Been thinking of starting space marines. Gork knows I have played almost every other army. I was pondering about what does each chapter believe. What are their goals, legands, motivations?

The theme of a new Great Crusade sounds awesome. But is there a chapter that focuses on that? Is there a chapter that believes that the Emperor will be reincarnated. Or will arise from his Golden Throne. Fully healed, and reunite his people and bring about a new Era of human progress.

If not. I was thinking of just making one. White armour, gold trim, red cloth. Make the almost like pre heresy Word Bearers as far as personality goes.

Another great crusade? The Black Templars are still working on the last one!

Like others have mentionned, the Black Templar are still waging the Great Crusade. Your idea is very nice still. You can develop a different angle than the Black Templar who are a bit grim. I would like to see what you will create!

I imagine just about EVERY Space Marine Chapter would love for there to be another Great Crusade but the Reality of Life being what it is in the 41st Millennium...

Sounds like a good basis for another BT successor chapter. Still crusading zealots, but less angry zerg rushing (but keeping the religious streak).
Hell, with that colour scheme you could pass them off as space paladins or something to that effect (as opposed to space teutonic knights) - would also fit in with the "BT but level headed" vibe. Sorta like what the Crimson fists are to the imperial fists.

Every few hundred years or so the Space Wolves send a company off on a great hunt into the EOT hoping to find Russ. They never do but usually return with some ancient artifact of eminence power or some different STC with which to enhance the IOM war machine. So while each great hunt has ended ultimately in failure, they are not without their own rewards too.
