Okay, so there's a thread in the Star Wars forum, which has me curious here - what ships do you hope to see for STAW?

For me, I'd like a ship I recently learned about - the Centaur.

I'm also fond of some of the old FASA designs, first - some Federation ships

My all-time favorite, the Chandley

Spoiler:

TOS Movie era Locknar/Loknar class

Spoiler:

and Northhampton class

Spoiler:

Next, the Romulan Winged Defender

Spoiler:

Klingon Riskadh (D-10)

Spoiler:

What are you looking forward to one day being available, even if it's just a variant of an existing ship?

It never ends well

The USS Farragut? Do you want that ship specifically or would the USS Pheonix that was recently released fit the bill?

You have very good taste in ships, Storm! The Chandley is also my fav from the old fasa game and the only actual mini I have left from it. Your list pretty much overlaps mine on the Venn diagram except for the Northhampton (you don't need two large modern fed frigates!). I'd probably add the D-4 Klingon cruiser (I always liked the look) and the Remora (I like the look and I'm a sucker for the cut away cover art of it).

I'd forgotten the D-4.

I was also wondering tonight why Wizkids hasn't done an Enterprise D with a separated saucer section - or at least a card for it. As just a card, it's be a nice modification to add to any Fed ship if it did something like that if your ship blows up, you reduce the damage to have 2 hull remaining, but -1D damage. Meant to simulate separating the saucer section to avoid blowing up with the reactor core...

Maybe it has to do with the additional complexity. Do you mean that after destruction, you're left with only the saucer? At a minimum if that is the case, iirc any torpedo weapon access should be gone (iirc from the show, isn't the torpedo on hull both front and rear?) and the speed dial should also be affected since you don't actually have a warp core or drive and just impulse (so it should go down to just speed 2 max like the non-warp shuttles). It's alot of text but maybe still possible to fit. From what I've learned about Wizkids since learning more about this game over the last couple of weeks, I really doubt ANY of the above actually factored into the discussion but rather they likely made a snap decision that it's too hard to do for no money. I suspect we're more likely to see just a galaxy class flying saucer $15 booster a year from now than a card. It is however a good idea and I like it.

The USS Venture is a Galaxy class and slated for release in April, so you won't have to wait la year for a retail galaxy.

I think the whole reasoning behind not including the saucer separation is that the game takes place in a battle and in the show they separated before the battle starts. In incidents like the end of Generations the separation was after the ship was destroyed.

They didn't do it too many times during the show. When they did, it took a lot of time, not really something that can be done while an enemy fleet is closing in on you.

It's time to go full Skeletor

Are those from the Legacy video game? I saw a reference to them on Memory Beta but it didn't say exactly where they were from and I'm wasn't familiar with them until you mentioned them there. I am however familiar with the Intrepid and Delta Warp ships from the same era and would like to see them in the game. They're not popular and don't lend themselves well to repaints so I don't think they're a lock to get in though.

Right you are Warboss: I have long campaigned to see the Legacy game tapped for ships, as it has additional classes for both Romulans and Klingons that give us a bit more flexibility, especially since we have an over abundance of one ship type for both factions.

I would love to see some mid range Romulan ships and also the entire range of battleships and combat craft from Birth of the Federation made available to Ferengi, to make them an actual Alpha Q power.
