Hey, just wanted to start a topic about armies utilizing different Grand Alliances. Being that its totally legal in the main rules (idk about comps) I dont see a problem with it but I dont see too many Bat Reps with this kind of theme going on. With the recent news of the loss of TK I decided I want to add in some of them egyptian skellies to my Daemons. With most skeleton units being able to rez dead models they wouldnt be affected by some of my nurgle rot very much and could make good chaff or tarpits for bigger things. Maybe add a unit of zombies with a necro to be a living wall so my tzeentch can cast away in safety?

Anyways, what are some combinations you guys have thought of utilizing any combo of the grand alliances?

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

I've been using a group of Ogors and a Gargant with my Fyreslayer warband. I based their lodge out of Ghur, and reason that the Fyreslayers have plenty of gold, quality weapons, and ale to offer Ogors and Gargants in exchange for their services.

Largely, though, they just fit together thematically into a fun mercenary warband traveling across the Realms. And they look cool.

I've been half-jokingly calling them the Coalition of the Shirtless.

I dig it would love to see that across the table from my skaven, which im trying to figure out how to thematically add skeletons to

Give them a warpstone colored glowing hue and have them animated by warpstone. then have a warlock engineer "lead" them

Thematically I like the idea of Ogors + some of the Slaves to Darkness units, like Marauders and Marauder Horsemen, as an army of barbarians from the north.

I'd think they'd fit in with Pestilens pretty well! They've created a plague that strips the flesh off of bones and feeds power into the Plague Priest, who finds he now has control of the remains. Soon he's dabbling in necromancy in addition to his usual priestly duties...

I thought of the pestilence idea but I already use them with my nurgle and so I was looking into a little different. Its a good idea no doubt and I might toss it together for fun

Right now I am thinking mixing skryre with skeletons and doing conversions to make 'frankenstein" skeletons that have cheap mechanical parts and electricity to animate them. Plus the skeletons would make a great base in a warmachine heavy list

On a related note, as I start building up my Dogs of War list, I find myself trying to decide on good generals for this kind of army. Most generals have a unique command ability that only affects a certain type of unit (ie, Fyreslayers, Moonclan, etc.)

I'm still flipping through the app when time permits, but does anyone have a favourite commander for their allied army lists?

What is your two armies?

Typically my leader for my allied army is one that plays a strong support role as I play where only my main general gets a command ability. So for my ally undead I am debating between a necromancer or a wright king with banner to give the undead totem buff.

I'm building up a variety of mercenary companies for my imaginary little city, so I'll probably change things up over different games. Basically any army I can construe a fluffy reason to hire out as a merc: some that's pretty much most things outside of Chaos and Stormcast Eternals. So far, I have a few units grouped up as follows:

Fyreslayers
Destruction
Free Peoples
Aelves
A Necromancer and the Things He Summons

In the end, it will likely be a core of one force and a few units from the others, which will probably inform my general choice, but I was curious if anyone knew of a hero that had a command power that affected out of faction choices.
