For stripping minis, I know that the active ingredient in dettol which does the work is very probably chloroxylenol, however it also has isopropanol. So since my mini stripping jar is getting low (and I'm a tight ass), I was thinking of topping it up with alcohol that I already have. Would this be a good idea? Even if the fluid is diluted, I would expect it to still work...

FYI here's what dettol says the ingredients are: "The active ingredient in Dettol that confers its antiseptic property is chloroxylenol (C8H9ClO), an aromatic chemical compound. Chloroxylenol comprises 4.8% of Dettol's total admixture, with the rest made up by pine oil, isopropanol, castor oil, soap and water."

Side note/question please: can I use acetone on metal minis if I wash them thoroughly afterwards? I want to remove super glue from ebay terminators.

You can. But you're basically diluting the Iso alcohol with the Dettol by doing so. Just chuck the Dettol.

I thought Dettol was the active ingredient I wanted though - I just wanted to bulk up the dettol so it'll still cover 4 or 5 terminators. Otherwise I'd just soak them in my alcohol. Does anyone know a cheap way to get say 2L of dettol? Maybe its time to try the simple green in zip bag thing...

Am considering a 50/50 mix of eth and water. If 100% isn't necessary, I'd like the eth mix to be disposable with less wastage - assuming that it still works... Would water interfere? I know water + dettol makes the paints gummy on the plastic.
