Anyone know of a way to get hold of parts of forgeworld models reliably that can ship/sell in the UK without horrific postage costs?

EBay is the only place I've been able to get Forgeworld bits.

There's a number of vendors on eBay that regularly buy in orders of Forgeworld models, then sell off the components individually. IIRC, at least one of the vendors (usually photographed on a red background) does free P+P on orders over £15. That said, it's pretty much pot luck what they have in store, but you may be able to message them if your looking for individual pieces. I think another of the vendors had a Facebook page where they listed what they'd just got in stock, which is handy.

Yeah, the other option is to buy the full kit yourself, take the bits you need then sell off the remainder for a small loss or even small profit, depending on what bits you've taken.

Sounds like trying to find a few parts on ebay is the way forward and seeing if I can pm a few there who deal in parts to find them.

Aye but it seems foolish to pay near £100 for a single part and then have to bother with selling the rest.

Yeah, it obviously depends on the kit.
One missing shoulder pad from a set of 10 is probably fine, you won't lose much on that resale and any potential buyer will be happy to give his sergeant something a bit different.
A missing wing from a Tyranid Harridan is another game entirely and makes the model next to worthless.

Out of interest, what bit do you need?

Another, far less honest and potentially risky tactic would be to buy the full kit from FW, phone immediately on reciept saying (Read:Lying) that the part is missing.
They will send out a new piece and you will have your missing piece and a full kit that you could ebay or keep.
Just have it on your conscience that Jeremy Picker from the warehouse might be out of a job if this happens too often.

The head of Keeper of Secrets - not desperate for it as I need the other bits for the conversion I have in mind so I can wait abit and hunt around.

As for the idea of cheating the system not interested in that approach. Model companies have to make a living if we want to keep buying these great models. Can't buy them if we put them out of business - remembering that each "replaced" part requires them to recast the whole mould again so its not just 1 little bit its the whole model (plus any others on the same casting block).

Got your receipt? Ask FW if they can replace it for you because you lost it

@Overread - I would say, you may find it harder to get non-Space Marine parts on eBay. That's not to say you can't PM a seller and ask if they can get a model in, which they may be happy to do so, but the vast majority of sellers either sell exclusively Space Marine bits or bits from various plastic ranges. I would definitely say 'shy bairns get nowt' and drop them a line - you never know.

Why all the need to keep trying to encourage scamming ?
it sets a rather poor image of the gamer community to be encouraging people to scam and steal from the companies that provide for the hobby and is honstly embarrasing to have two comments suggesting this in the thread already!

Back up there, KB was not suggesting anyone scam FW.
With receipt (their required proof of purchase) and asking for a replacement part you lost, that's not a scam. That's something many model companies such as Airfix have done for years. You may have to pay postage or whatever.
Had KB said "email them and say it was never included." that right there is a scam.

Ahh sorry yes you're right - seems KB assumed I was missing a part and hence my interest - nopes purely interested in getting the parts ideally without having to buy the whole model all in once.

Bummer, you'll be at the mercy of bits sellers then, i can't really see a market for a headless KoS either

@Overread - Check out these two sellers:

A: - http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/thor7128?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

B: - http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/eggheadminiatures?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Just as a disclaimer - I am not and have no affiliation with these two sellers (so no bias either way) - I can just say that I've bought from them before and both have a nice variety of stock. Seller A does a helpful discount on orders over £15 and Seller B has a FB page and seems to order quite a bit in - they may be amenable to you asking for specific parts.
