With all the deathwatch talk, is GW finally gonna make Ordo Xenos marines a thing?

A really good game. With severalhigh quality supplements.
FFG did fine work with the 40k rpg universe.

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed. |

To answer the last statement, the best rumor people suggested that a Deathwatch Codex was in the works. So there's that I guess.

As someone who has been GM of a Deathwatch party that sometimes numbered in the upwards of 10 players, I can confirm that it is a very good game. It has a few oddities, but only a few.

There's actually a whole range of them. "Dark Heresy" and "Dark Heresy 2" have you playing as part of an Inquisitor's Retinue, with options to play as Sisters of Battle or Arbites amongst others. "Rogue Trader" has you exploring the outer reaches of Imperial Space as an actual Rogue Trader, Fleet and all, and even options for sanctioned Xenos player characters. "Deathwatch" has you playing as a Space Marine and purging Xenos Scum. "Black Crusade" has you playing as either Chaos Space Marine or human Chaos Cultists as you try to reach Apotheosis (note, Apotheosis not guaranteed. Why not try Spawndom instead!). "Only War" has you playing as the Imperial Guard, complete with options for Stormtrooper, Commissar, Ogryn and Ratling player characters.

Some day, I'd like to do an Only War/Deathwatch crossover game. You have the Squad doing most of the grunt work/hold the line moments, but running from things like Carnifexes or the equivalent, depending on what you're up against...and that's when the Kill Team comes in...

And I can dodge like ten metres to just get out of it.
I know, I know, we're going to go in circles.
And hey, why do you get a Shadowsword?! I get a Falchion, then!

Because the Shadowsword is actually in the rules.
And you'll have to dodge far more than 10 meters (and at a reduced agility, because its technically a laser weapon )
Edit: As much as I enjoy playing the infantry (and especially a Stormtrooper), I really want to play a campaign where everyone is a different crewman from a Baneblade/Shadowsword and see how the team would do from there.

So you are on that planet right. Would you consider surrendering your tank to me while I ready the Starbreaker Lance and my the Macrobatteries. I will send some freighters down with the legal works.
Kind regards your friendly rogue trader in orbit.

Traitor, lol. You must be mistaken. This planet is rightfully mine by royal degree. Fire the CANNONS NOW don't let this rebel spread false rumors about our great house.

It's a very well done game in general that suffers from FFG's standard editing problems
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Not as much as Only War though, which has incredible issues related to copypasting rules from other game that are only partially compatible (see the Fear rules, for instance).
With Deathwatch, be aware that it, like most FFG 40K products, has been heavily heavily heavily errated and is barely playable without the errata.

Side not if you ever consider playing Rogue trader. Change the power structure in the party. The game puts the rogue trader way above the other players and then creates lot of potential conflict in the party. We found it way more fun if the all the players where on a more equal in ranking instead of the Rogue trader ruling as a king and winning every argument in the end.

Deathwatch is awesome. I have most of the books for that system, as well as most of the Rogue Trader books, and some Only War and Black Crusade ones.
the whole 40k roleplaying system is a lot of fun and very well done, if you ask me.

That's kind of how it's supposed to work. His ship, his rules (or her, as the case may be). You don't argue with the captain of the ship unless you want to get thrown out of an airlock.

Yeah thats fine and all and fits perfectly with the setting. But isn't the best for group dynamics especially since it will take a wile to make clear why.
This RPG actively steers towards group conflict by giving each PC different motivations backgrounds and loyalties to factions. This can be fun until there surface some real issues and the group realises that its the rogue trader PC's way or the highway. On top of that the other PCs might soon notice that it is highly unlikely for a rogue trader to lose that position of power whatever the other players choose to do even "accidentally" killing him off is almost impossible due to the faith point system and all sorts of paranoia pre-emptive measures a rogue trader might have made as part of his character background.
I love the RPG but this is a serious issue.
