This gives me 4 troops choices, though they are not too sturdy. Im concerned about opposing Deathstars and Air support. I have the Contemptors, are the Sicaran's and Dereado's so much better?

I do want to make one more purchase (a dreadnought Drop Pod, or Dread Claw or suggestions welcome). Id like to drop in a dual-chainfist dual graviton gun Contemptor to handle Scorpius and other backfield problems.

A sicaran with a pair of lascannons and Armoured Ceramite is 195. A contemptor with a pair of Kheres is 205. 200 if it's a Mortis.

A sicaran can fire from further out, and can fire after moving further.

A Sicaran can also rend, and ignores Jink saves, but gets but gets half the shots of paired kheres. The Sicaran also gets an extra point of strength.

That being said, a contemptor In a pod can make a good turret, since you don't need to disembark, the opponent has to shoot through your dread pod and then your contemptor. However, it is then costing around 300 points for the privelege.

Remember, Dread pods don't have the ability to drop in and charge anymore.

Edit: however, dreads benefit from interlocking fire is nice. Not a huge thing, but a bit more extra damage helps.

(Contemptors in HH are BS5 too, if I'm remembering right, which is another bonus)

Ahh the contemptor Mortis didn't receive the 20 point increase like it did in 40k. Very nice. 180 then for the Mortis Contemptor.
