Maybe paint in the symbols on the relics with a bright color, and then dry brush a goldish color on the relic edges to make them pop out of the ground more?
Then maybe add some moss where the rock meets the ground for more color.

Oh that's a good suggestion. I mean, I don't want the base to get too much attention. I want the model to be the focal point. But that would look good
Use some of the tip in this tutorial for the Baleful Realmgate and use some washes to break up the solid grey color of the base.

Yeah, a wash would help out on the contrast, and maybe just a patch or two of some green moss, and like Mdlbuildr said, just some color on the runes. That will still make the white/red scheme you have stand out, and make the figure the eye catcher.
