So, knowing that wave 8 is just around the corner and that I'm going to need to grab Mist Hunter for several cards, I started thinking about whether to just go whole hog and add a TIE-Adv proto to my Defender/ Advanced list in progress. So (spoilers include nothing you can't read on the official x-wing site) here we go:

Spoiler:

Darth Vader (34)
Adaptability (PS +1)
Engine upgrade
X1
ATC

Col. Vessery (40)
Proton rockets
Adaptability (PS +1)
Tractor beam
Engine Mk II
TIE- D

Valen Rudor (26)
Juke
TIE v1
Engine Mk II

For those who looked at my previous post, I'm switching Alozen for Valen, who gets to perform a free action after defending and the v1 title lets him perform an evade after acquiring a TL - so every time he gets shot, acquire the lock and get a free evade (real shame he can't get a comm relay to hold on to it) or boost/ roll around for next turn.

I could also switch the proton rockets to Valen or give Valen push the limit to make him a heck of an arc dodger with all the green maneuvers on his dial (esp w the Mk II engine) ... though going with autothrusters (for initiative bid) or stealth device instead of prorockets could be better (there's a lot of green on that dial, but the only turns are speed 1).

Let me know what you think (and especially if this is a big improvement over the (latest iteration) previous list.

Cheers

Why not Omega Leader instead of Rudor? If you drop the Prockets off Vessery, since you will probably want to be shooting with the beam and Double tapping with the primary, you could get him VI instead so that Vader could shoot after the tractor beam.

Omega Leader is Vessery's BFF, after all!

Indeed. My new 'go to' power list is looking strongly like Adaptable EU ATC Vader, Veteran TB/d Vessery and Jukin' Omega Leader. Depending how Adaptability ends up working, Vader can either go up to 10 to beat out the likes of Soontir or drop to 8 to enable him to take advantage of a tractor beamed target. Both Vader and OL like to get and maintain target locks on enemy ships which should help Vessery out immensely. My only real decision left to playtest out is which cannon is best for Vessery, as I've only used tractor beam so far. It's been good, but I miss doing damage on the first shot and find the chances of dragging people into range 1 don't come up as often as I'd like.

As an aside, I can't believe it's got to a point where Soontir Fel isn't an auto-include for the Imperials, but here we (almost) are.

As for the OP list more directly:

Vader is fine, Vessery doesn't really want rockets particuarly, and if you're shaving some points you could up Valen Rudor to the Inquisitor, who I think is generally better. If both of the other pilots are higher PS than Vessery though, then you'll probably have to switch to Veteran Instincts on him or nobody else will be able to take advantage of a tractor beamed target.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

Because Vader died at the Battle of Endor, 20-30-ish years before the rise of the First Order (based on the info/timeline in Wookieepedia). At least in my mind, I'm not going to fly Vader with anything ABE. To me, expert pilot talents are ok, it's not like nobody knew how to juke until later. But any tech upgrades that are exclusive to core II or F/O expansions just CAN'T be part of a list with Vader. I have the same issue with Palpatine and Boba Fett, FWIW (other pilots/ships/tech from the former Extended Universe are now "not cannon" so don't necessarily have to have died).

I forget which series of comics had a clone Emperor, and Boba Fett is himself a clone/came back in the comics, so maybe I'll be able to talk myself into using characters that died in ROTJ along with F/O ships and pilots -- calling 'em a clones or generic dark Jedi that just happens to have the stats/ability of Vader/Sidious (and heck, the Vader crew upgrade could just as easily be Kylo Ren having a tantrum )

Back to the list, in tinkering last night, I wound up dropping the prorockets to get PTL and autothrusters for Valen and now I'm definitely seeing the advantage of VI on Vessery, to get him up to the "slow Vader" level. Winds up putting me right at 100 points. Given Valen's lower PS (compared to the Inquisitor), I thought having the autothrusters would probably be a better defensive upgrade than the Mk II engine.
