Hi all
Queston about
IMPERIAL NAVY AVENGER STRIKE FIGHTER - do you use it with basic supplied weapons or modify them (for SoB army)?
If yes - what is best for it?

I use it in my guard army. It already has 4 weapons base, so the upgrades are a bit redundant and makes a 2 hull point flyer almost 200 points.

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all

You mean to tell me you don't deploy yours with your CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT?

I would like to get a IMPERIAL NAVY AVENGER STRIKE FIGHTER myself. It would be really cool to have a bomber with a few IMPERIAL NAVY AVENGER STRIKE FIGHTERS shadowing it for air support.

I usually take autocannons to get even more firepower, especially for popping transports.

Those look very nice! Even better is that you have some non metal miniatures in your SoB army!

Came in for this. Wasn't disappointed.

I used an IMPERIAL NAVY AVENGER STRIKE FIGHTER once against a tyranid army.
Unfortunately, he used a power to make is dakkafex run and shoot, and he destroyed it.
I saw on the internet people saying to buy the ignore cover missiles, as you won't waste your guns because they have a different target than the autocannons, and to have a use to your aircraft even after he took good care of the opponent's aircraft.
Never tried it.

Are the ignore cover missiles ordnance? I've never used missiles, I didn't know they came in ignores cover.

One of them is a heavy stubber pointing the wrong way. :p you're only going to be snapfiring one of your main guns if you buy two more, and a snap shot is better than no shot.

No, hellfury missiles aren't ordnance, they are 72" heavy 1 S4 AP5, large blast ignore cover on use only.
The hellsrike are ordnance S8AP3, but don't take them.

The hellfury give you new opportunities.
For example, say you killed your opponent's dakkajet , flyrant or razorwing (with two lascannons and his AVENGER CANNON, it shouldn't be that hard).
There are plenty of little armored guys running in the table, hidding in covers. You don't want to shoot at them with lascannon, do you ? So you use the hellfury and the AVENGER CANNON.
Suddenly you flyer became a beast murdering infantry like hell.

And the hellfury are only 20pts (5 orks or 4 homagaunts, not hard to justify) in m book (IA volume one second edition).

At last, this is the theory I heard; I hadn't the opportunity to try it, yet.

Hm, so a one-use Large Blast flamer for 10 points. I can see how that might be useful against GEqs or lighter.

I personally like running it with multilasers. More volume of fire for wrecking infantry, enough strength to threaten flyers, range synergy with the bolt cannon. Yeah, you'll wind up snap-firing one gun - make it a lascannon when you're strafing infantry or going after an AV10 flyer, make it a multilaser when you're going after AV12 flyers or T6/3+ FMCs.

Autocannons are a good choice too, but unless you're expecting infantry with 4+ saves, I think the multilasers are slightly better against most models with a T value. (Autocannon is slightly superior against vehicles - consider that if your intended mission is tank-hunting once the enemy air assets are eliminated.)

Sure, but you are paying extra points to snap fire...all on a 2 hull point 12 10 10 flyer. To each their own I suppose.
