Hey folks,

I'm starting to think about which faction to collect second (I've gone pretty all in on Imperials first) and I'm trying to figure out the most cost effective way to get some variation for friendly games at the FLGS, while also picking up as many cards as possible for future tournaments.

I'm leaning towards Scum because the Mist Hunter is a must buy (for the cards, not sure about the model/pilots), the M3-a is a cool model (though I haven't seen it in many lists, it also comes with a bunch of cards that seem useful/ necessary) and the Firespray, like the Hunter, seems necessary for cards and could be used in an Imperial list.

That said, I really like the look of some of the Rebel/Resistance lists I've seen (here and in YouTube vids of tournament play), like the B/Y-wing stress & Ion list, and B's with advanced sensors... and many of the cards do look available in Rebel expansion packs too.

Thoughts? How/why did you decide on Rebels vs Scum?

Thanks

I bought Everything.Although I regret getting the Scyk, as every useful card in it can be better bought elsewhere.

Everyone I know just buys everything. There is no really need to stick to only one faction, especially give the way upgrades are spread around through expansion packs.

I am only interested in Rebels and only in the "old" ships because those are the ones that stuck to my heart. I certainly use cards from the new waves if they fit (won't use BB-8 for example) and don't break with the lore, but I stick to the ships I grew to love, Kyle, Han, the Y-Wings etc. Very limited, but that's why I love X-Wing

Having to buy at least one of every ship for everything the game has to offer, best/worst thing ever! I am so happy every time I get a new ship, my wallet then breaks into bitter tears.

To answer the OP: If you're looking to expand into one additional faction specifically, go with the faction that has the coolest (in your opinion) ships. It's nice how balanced X-Wing is, allows you to go with the stuff you like without getting destroyed on the tabletop.

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

Given that there are a lot of overlap ships in the remaining two factions, there isn't much in it, I'd recommend Scum as they have a bag of fun tricks, Rebels are most likely a stronger faction but goodies is dull,,,

Haha, true but thats not to say dull can't be strong in a tourney, its just Rebels stronger lists tend to feature shield regen and/or stress which to me is the X-wing version of Blue/White in Magic, ie, grind out your enemy and maybe remove their will to live as a bonus...

No, that would be a 4TLT Scum list.

Me personally I'm going to go Scum after playing Imps for a while.

Factions?
What factions?
Just buy 1-3 of each ship per wave. FFG makes it pretty easy that way.

Well the lottery winnings check is still in the mail and the sale of a bridge in Brooklyn isn't final yet

I tried going all one faction when I first started, but quickly found that approach lacking. For example, how do you run TIE Interceptors without Autothrusters from the Star Viper expansion? There are dozens more examples, but that's the main one I can think of for Imperials...

I've bought 2 of just about everything. There are nice Upgrades for your Imperials in the Scum ships... things like Autothrusters and Crackshot.
Scum are going to have the tools they need to compete here with Wave 8. So I'd probably head that direction.
I'm just finding the Rebels ho-hum... they just aren't as exciting to me as Imperials and Scum.
