Complex list here, full comments welcome. I wonder if I've ignored any units or combinations which can fulfill the same roles better or for fewer points.

If you are taking allied ABG might as well take second beast hunter in elites slot. I would drop the lascannons on them and the hull upgrade.

Can you elaborate on that a little bit?

Re: lascannons and artificer hull. Where would you drop points to fit in a second Beast Hunter Vanquisher in? Why would you drop the 4th hull point upgrade? A 33% increase in durability seems a good choice for a 9.75% increase in points cost of the model. Have you played with Beast Hunter Vanquishers, and how well did they do?

Beast hunter vanquishers are great at killing MCs or units of multi wound models..like ogryn, TWC, Kataphrons, Centurions and so on, but if youre not facing them its a wasted 15 points...the way I look at it, as long as it takes off one additional wound throughout the course of the game it paid for itself. ID one Grav Cent...I call it a win.

I personally like the artificer hulls...you are much more likely to be stripped of hull points than to be exploded.

There's no point wasting points in target priority number one (if the opponent is bringing monstrous creatures). Just keep it as cheap as possible for its primary goal, instant death. I wouldn't call it a 33% increase in survivability when it can be one shotted very easily, and will be snap shooting if it gets penetrated. I guess its just my preference to save as many points to take more infantry to protect my tanks.

I have to disagree. Upgrading to the hull LC is fine. Beast hunter shells are a blast after all and could miss. Also taking the hunter shells doesnt prevent you from firing the normal armorbane rounds. LCs are great for targeting MCs and vehicles alike.

Well, if I remember guard correctly, (and its been since 5th ed) that the ol' box' n cloak method works best. Take an ageis line and camo cloacks on everything that can take it. You get 3+ cover on mechs. Do this so all your lisks and arillery and sit back. As well youre going to want an ageis for this guard. its 50 points. And another 50 points to get some anti air power.
