Holy crap, I didn't realize you had taken any pictures I think at that point in the game I was just on the edge of going on tilt, so I probably wouldn't have noticed if you took off your shirt.

Gotta say, reading that thread, I am really, really disappointed with Mantic's reactions when it comes to those questions. Bad enough to say "just fudge it" but man, don't be a dick about it on top of things.

Yeah, the Mantic Forums are a weird place. The Rules Committee guys can be pretty huffy, but there are some pretty committed jerks that post there. I think they are thrust in this awkward PR/Moderator role that they aren't fully prepared for.

Unlike Dakka, amirite?

But seriously, thanks for the great KoW discussion here guys. Polonius, it'd be great to game with you next time we get together, we were thinking multiple small point level games to get the hang of things better, so it'd be easy to rotate

I dunno, I think Dakka is fine... that means I am probably one of the jerks, doesn't it?

How well does KoW work at really small point levels like 1000? I wonder if it possible to get enough regiments for all the troops and characters and such.

It works fine at 1000 points, but you'll want to be very conscious of list construction, as you can skew hard at that level with Monsters or War Machines.

1000 point games, especially learning games, work really well if you stick a single element. At higher points levels, most players keep a rough battle line, but also have the elements they can split up, usually with their own inspiring source.

At 1000 points, you can have a couple of regiments, a hero with inspiring, a wizard, a war machine, a flying character, and maybe a few troops. It's going to be tight, but if you stick with variety, you can really learn how different unit types work.

Honestly, you don't see a lot of lower point games beyond first games, because the game moves quickly enough you can play 1500 points in under two hours.

It's like if Dakka were way, way smaller, and GW staffers were regular posters. It's... an interesting environment.

And I'd love to get some games in! My work schedule should be opening up soon, although I'll be spending a big chunk of August on the road, so I'll have weekends to game like a madman.

Sounds great! My schedule is a bit crazy too but will PM about gaming sometime in August once I've narrowed things down

Yea. That sums it up pretty exactly. I might go farther to say that it is more like Dakka of 2006-2008, but only maybe.
