So it's been a few years since I've played 40k. My previous experience was with the Tau but I've decided to go with Necrons this time around. I'm trying to build a more unique list that isn't quite as bland. After fooling around with battlescribe for a bit this is what I've come up with. I'd like to get some input on how valid of a build this is.

+++ (1841pts) +++

++ Necrons: Codex (2015) (Formation Detachment) (1841pts) ++

+ Formation (1841pts) +

Canoptek Harvest (254pts)

Reclamation Legion (627pts) [Nemesor Zahndrekh (150pts)]

Retribution Phalanx (480pts)

Retribution Phalanx (480pts)

[MOD EDIT - Please don't post individual points costs and/or breakdowns - thanks! Alpharius]

Working on it

Looks pretty solid but a couple things.

-You can take the Reclamation Legion and Canoptek Harvest as Decurion Detachment then take the 2 Retribution Phalanxes as Formation Detachment

-Move 1 Scarab from each Phalanx into the Harvest. Sine the scarabs can comeback after they die you don't want to many in there.

-I would suggest taking 2 squads of 3 Tomb Blades over 1 squad of 6. Damage won't spill over as easily and it's more mobile

-I would drop Zandrekh and get a vanilla lord with Warsythe, spend the Extra points on more Immortals.

Other than that I think this list looks great

<Dynasty> ~10500pts
War Coven of the Coruscating Gaze ~3000pts
Thrice-Damned Plague Corps ~3250pts
Admech (TBN) ~3500pts +30k Bots and Ulator

I appreciate the input on my list. If you don't mind I have a few questions about your suggestions.

When I swapped Zan for the generic overlord with a warscythe and a phase shifter it only allows me to fit in two additional immortals. Is this really worthlosing Zan's special abilities?

What would be the benefit of putting the two formations in the Decurian detachment over the standard formation detachment. Also on this topic, I am unclear if the formation detachments get Objective Secured or not. I am aware that the decurian does not.

My thought on the scarabs was to give the Ret Phalanxes larger numbers to create unending tar pits with the harvest generating more on its own from the spider. I'm just wondering why less on the phalanxes would be better.

Again, thanks for the help and the input. A lot has changed since I could shoot at targets through my devilfish.

I would suggest rereading the BRB section on Detachments. Each detachment/formation gets specific bonuses. Objective Secured is one possible bonus, but none of the Necron detachments get it that I am aware of (except the basic CAD). In regards to you other question, Units in a Decurion Detachment get +1 to Resurrection Protocols (so 4+/5+) and vehicle are immune to Crew Shaken and Crew Stunned, so unless your group or tournament bans Decurion-style detachments, it's generally best to take it that way.
