Hey mates. Have my army coming in and I am currently gathering other units to field as allies, starting with the Inquisition and Knights. From looking at the Knights, I am tempted to try out Gerantius, as while he is a standard Knight Errant, his updated stats, equipment, and Special Rules make him a very formidable opponent for people to deal with. Plus he also comes with a CCW, and as I currently field a Death Korps of Krieg Grenadier Assault Brigade list (aka lots of Chimeras, some LR tanks and a Avenger Strike Fighter), it would give me some CC potential.

That being said, I am not sure if Gerantius is worth his points, as I have never seen him in action and while his stats and Special Rules look great, I am not sure how they actually contribute on the tabletop. Would appreciate any feedback if any has played with or against him for your opinions. If not him, plan to go the Crusader Route with the Double-Tap Battle Cannon, Gatling Cannon, and either the Carapace Mounted Rocket Pod or Autocannon.

130 extra points is a lot for only +1 WS/BS, IWND, and +1 to Ion Shield

Not worth it. Bs5 means shots that scatter scatters 1" less. Having the d weapon means he's killing anything he hits in combat anyway, you won't notice much difference after the stomps are resolved. 3++ is nice, but still only in one direction.
You are paying 125 points extra to restore 1 or 2 hullpoints in essence, you won't see much other benefit.

That said, no reason not to try him out for yourself and see if you can get the points worth out of him.

Fair enough. With that being the case, would I be better going with a Knight Crusader for the Firepower to support me Mechanized IG list? Or would a more CC varient be more effective. Will still try him out but just trying to see which Varient is best for a Mechanized IG list.

You can take him as part of an Exalted Court, and give him Sanctuary.
