Just for fun photoshoot. Photographs by Chunsoo Ha modelled by ookassio and meganwj (you can find them on instagram!). I just did the painting.

I took the faction images myself but they aren't so great.

The rest of the unit photos can be found here but they aren't as nice:

Thanks for looking

Yup, would be nice to see the actual models up close, instead of a lifestyle photoshoot at the gaming store

sorry but those photos... I'm just like, "Oh look girls playing a game!" /sarcasm

Honestly I'd rather see the models in the game.

Poor photography as you missed the subject matter completely. If you wanted to take pictures of minis, make sure you actually take real pictures of the minis.

This paints an unrealistic image of what tabletop gaming looks like.
I wouldn't be surprised if those models have been photoshopped to look thinner!

Now the only question is... when I said "models" did I mean the women or the miniatures?

The minis are back-lit so its hard to see what you've painted. Have a go with light on the side facing the camera.

EDIT- On closer inspection you are not the photographer. I'm guessing Chunsoo Ha is not used to miniature photography. The shots of ladies posing with the game are nicely composed.

Lol. It is hilarious how inexplicably angry these photos are making people. What's the matter with you people? If just seeing a photo with women in it makes you angry, you should probably go see a therapist.

Cool photoshoot, great minis. Nice work!

It most likely stems from the fact that it's a semi misleading title on a forum about showcasing models and painting.

When you actually come in, it looks more like a magazine spread to advertise the fact it's a board game, not showing off anything really to do with the minis/painting.

So there's no real anger at all that I've seen, just people pointing out that "The point was missed".

I know right? Seems like a rather extreme reaction, dontcha think?

Great way to encourage women into the hobby, too. Especially with that ridiculous meme.

I'd say that these pictures are encouraging to female gamers... until I got to the one of her leaning over the table with a little bit excessive curvature going on. That can't be comfortable, so it's obviously posed for it's attractiveness, making me doubt that they are being used for anything other than capitalizing on female sexuality to hype the game or their sales.

The reaction to two out of ten photos that included a human woman in the composition is quite sad

Nice paint jobs! I'd especially like to take a closer look at the magister. Only criticism I have (beyond lighting issues sufficiently covered above) is, I would have liked to see them properly based so as to be useful in miniatures gaming as well as board gaming.

I cleaned up the thread a bit, let's try to keep the criticism to the toy soldiers and the pictures rather than each other. Thanks!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Serious question: why would you not base models that had so much work put into them?

They are far from complete, imo.

tbh i dont think a board game needs the basing. i guess it could but i kinda think it fits the theme better no?

I agree, I think the bases are fine left as simple black plastic.

The game board is fairly ornate with varying colors splashed across it, so even doing a color themed base trying to match the game board might not look right. As jarring as "unfinished" bases look to this wargamer, I think they work fine for this type of product.

Man... those cultists really look good. I have no need for this game but damn do I want it! Later guys, I am off to the buyer support thread to try and work through this impulse to buy.

As long as the bases are black 100%, no paint splotches, clean, then it is ok. If they are dirty and obviously unfinished, then they are breaking the showcase guidelines and should be launched over into painting and modelling.

inexplicably angry? ha, no. Disappointed I came into a showcase thread and see a photoshoot and no decent close up of models? yes.

this is a game I wanted to check out and see if I liked the models, in case I decide to get it. So I was really hoping for better pictures. Maybe one of the whole board, but on the whole just want to see the models. And I don't mean the girls.

So, at OP: take some more pics of just the minis, in a few groups maybe? and from a couple angles, that'd be awesome.
