This was given to me to paint on commission however I wanted.

I think it was the original monolith as the instructions were on the side of the box. It did not fit together very well so it took a lot of work to get the edges straight. Inside are 30 individual LEDs wired in parallel powered by a 9 volt battery.

Awesome job. Cool paintwork and the LEDs are done really well. Any chance of a little tutorial on them? How were they mounted etc?

I used this website ... http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz to design the circuit.

Each rod has it's own LED and resistor. It's a bit mind-bending to translate it from a flat picture schematic but it is basically all of the negative leads of an LED connected together and all positive. If it was run in a series, it would take too large a voltage source to power.

There is about 6 feet of wiring inside. LED's are held in place with hot glue. The whole thing is powered by a 9 volt hidden under the model.
