Talk about long-term support...

Yesterday, Blizzard released a patch for Diablo II. According to what I've heard, the patch was supposed to increase compatibility with newer systems. And now news has gotten out that Blizzard will be releasing a patch for Warcraft III on the 15th. There's no information on what the patch will contain, though. We only know that one will be released.

So I guess that erases the stupid fan theory of an 'updated d2' being showcased this year at Blizzcon. Seriously, some of the dumbest requests are made solely on the merit of nostalgia.

Anyhow, it's cool to see they've got interest in prolonging the life of their older titles. I imagine the patch for WC3 will probably be something similar to what the D2 one is.

Weird. Right before Grim Dawn released, the dev team released an update for Titan Quest too. Guess ARPG devs have made a group decision to make sure all their old as dirt games still run XD

ARPG. Use of the term has evolved over time. These days it's generally used to refer to games like Diablo. Lots of dungeon crawling, loot by the ton, character customization (in the sense of skills and gearing), and action. Less focus on story or character narrative.
