Krazed Killa Kan

My initial Ork force was whatever 2 boxes of Killa Kans, the Ork Battleforce (trukk, 2 units of boyz. bikes), another box of boyz, and 2 boxes of lootas made up. Back then me and my friend who started Spess Wolves would just put models on the table and go at it. Once I got a Weirdboy model (along with more boyz, and some deffkoptas) like a month or two later is when I had a "proper" army. My dreams of a Killa Kan wall army where so hopeful, so naïve. 6th edition's shooting gallery ended those dreams real quick.

My first army was the Space Marines force from the 2nd ed box set (SM vs Orks). I think I fleshed it out a little with terminators, a terminator captain with storm bolter and power fist (with built in grenade launcher!) and a terminator chaplain. Oh, and a Rhino.

Painted up as blobs of red and black paint (Blood Angels)

1st edition Orks.
Waaagh Ork theme (unit of all clans + freebooterz) and 100+ models.

The metal Orks with plastic arms (each model an individual) are IMO still the best Ork miniatures ever made.
Orks in general are still my favourite army creatively speaking.

Bought a few blisters of Space Marines during the Rogue trader era, then on my birthday I bought the Space Marine strike force (I think it was called)
30 tactical marines painted using whatever paints I had to hand, I think they ended up Terracotta, I believe they were supposed to be Blood Angels

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

Had a couple of squads of warriors in raiders, a Dark Lance Ravager, an Archon, a Talos and a few Jetbikes.

I remember loving my Splinter Cannon guys, and flicking blood red all over my bikes with a stiff brush.

I started last year with someone's unwanted copy of Black Reach. First army was Blood Ravens (with Imperial Fists chapter tactics):

Terminator Librarian (from spare Space Hulk sprue)
Tactical squad
Scout Squad (converted from Landspeeder Storm kit: some guy just wanted the vehicle to model, not the riders).
Terminator Squad (w Heavy Flamer from same SH sprue)
Dreadnought

Later added another Dreadnought, a Dark Vengeance Librarian, and a Heavy Bolter marine.

My first army was chaos. I can't really remember what I fielded, but it was probably something like:

Abaddon, Chaos Lord, doomrider, 2 tac squads, predator, 5 plague marines, daemon prince.

I started playing when my brother got the 3rd edition box set.

My first army included the contents of the 2nd Ed Boxed Set. In other words, 40 Orks and 80 Grots, I believe. Trying to recall what I did for a Warboss. I believe I painted one of the Boyz red and made him the Boss. No slavers/runtherdz were needed back in those days. Or if they were, may have "overlooked" that rule.

Won my first game, too. Recall that it was a very close game.

Hardened Veteran Guardsman

I think I scraped together a list with 2 Dark Angel halves of Dark Vengeance and some drop pods. It actually did pretty well.

He's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; He is one of ten million men snatched from his home to fight a war he barely understands; He wages war against devouring hiveminds, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.

Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.

And he will hold the line.

I played a little RT (as much as anyone could "play" RT), but my first proper armies were out of the 2nd ed starter. I built them both at the same time so I can't really say one came before the other.

Two units of ten tac Marines painted as Blood Angels

20 Goff Orks
40 Gretchin
1 Cardboard "Ork Dreadnaught" - that thing was tough - it was back in the days when you could put a Lascannon on a Ork dread.

The gross have since been repainted and enlisted into my new ork army (I really prefer the older style vs the "modern" grots). The Marines are floating around here and there in my various bitz boxes and most of the Orks are about to be part of the 2nd half of my Ork army project. No idea what happened to that cardboard dread ...

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Psiensis on the "good old days":

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

My very first army ever was Later Carthaginian.

My first game of 40k was a demo game while we were waiting for a guy to bring a load of daemons (my first 40k army) I was buying from him.

I had some tyranids: Flyrant with double devourer, 3 warriors, some genestealers and a bunch (20?) hormaguants at 500 points.
The idea was that I should try using a FMC because I was going to play daemon princes. It was bad, after I murdered half the marines I conceded to be a decent sport.

My first army is actually the only one I have so far ! Although I have set up and have ordered the parts for an 1850 point list. Currently I have a list of 1000 points Sisters/Space Wolves. I tend to do research on things before flying into them, especially such an expensive hobby...so my first army list probably wasn't as terrible as it could have been.

The first army I played with was Squats when an older friend introduced me to his friends.

So, naturally the first army I owned was Space Marines because I was like 12 or 13 and they looked cool. This was right as the first Mk VII guys were being released prior to 2nd Edition, and the helmets reminded me of Darth Vader.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Funnily, Genestealer Cult list. May have to resurrect that one with the new Deathwatch game.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.
