I was curious if anyone knew what the tamiya pink primer was a match to of any of the ranges outside reaper. I use GW P3 99 percent of the time though
I believe its a lacquer primer but I'm not sure what that means for my purposes. I'm looking to speed up the base coating of my pink horrors so any good pink model primer would be nice

I have nice results with tinted white primer from Vallejo. No problems so far.

Agreed, mix and prime whatever colour you want - the Vallejo coloured primers also work really well

dont own an airbrush unfortunately
the amount of time it takes to brush a clean coat of pink is what I'm trying to avoid

do car experts own every car? or should i say enthusiasts. also it was more of a common thing commission painters do. nothing fancy. also viable when models already built

Car enthusiasts tend to actually own a car, yes

thats bull dude i know a few guys who are good at fixing cars and know a lot about expensive foreign cars that do not own any. that being said since you seem to have the neckbeard fully drawn towards me, was my advice wrong? is pre shading NOT a viable method for airbrushing skin? im 300000 percent positive this is a great method which requires very little talent and he was new to airbrushing AND his models were already assembled. the man clearly doesn't really care about doing a top quality job or he never would have assembled it fully.
your passive aggressive stalking me on a 2nd thread is kinda sad man not to mention your painting skills are very sub par. similar to what you called my painting skills arbitrarily yes? maybe you shouldn't be giving advice in general

Lacquer primer would mean there's a slicker surface. If you wanted to wash the pink or paint over it, thin paint would bead slightly in comparison to a matte spray acrylic.
The effect is minimal: You'd get harsher edges to your crevices on the first application of any shade/wash.
You could negate that by puffing some acrylic varnish over it and allowing that to dry before applying the next paint.
I seem to remember lacquer is also pissy about temp and can orange peel if you're very unlucky. On horrors that isn't gonna make them any weirder.
As an aside, KB posts pretty much exclusively in P&M, it's not stalking you to reply in here. Stalking would be if he followed you into YMDC or Reddit. Let's not be overdramatic.

Vallejo primers aren airbrush only, you can use them with brush too.

So, what's wrong with just using Tamiya's pink primer if you want something that's like Tamiya's pink primer? Lacquers are fine under acrylics. You have to be mildly careful spraying them over acrylics because they have strong solvents so can cause rippling or crazing if you douse an acrylic under coat with a lacquer paint or varnish, but if you're careful and apply thin coats it's usually fine. Otherwise maybe find an automotive pink, but you might struggle to find a matte. You could also get many automotive places that will mix paint for you and put it in a can. Or buy a can of white and a can of red and try and mix them yourself. But doing that you aren't going to get very repeatable results if you need to mix up a 2nd batch. "Lacquers" covers a large range of possible paints the same way "acrylics" does, paint formulations have gotten so complex it's hard to make broad statements. Tamiya's lacquer primers I've used (and I haven't used the pink) are not a particularly slick surface. To be honest I've never really noticed any of my lacquers coming out more slick except for the glosses which, ya know, are supposed to be slick Orange peel also depends on the paint and is usually only a problem on glosses, not mattes like the Tamiya primer would be. I use lacquers for airbrushing more than anything, I don't really hairy brush paint with them, they're my favourite type of paint for airbrushing. They go on smooth like an enamel but without the painfully long drying times.

Fair. I was just going off my job of using lacquer spray cans to paint (very) large pieces with, I've never airbrushed with it, or used a matte.
I tended to assume that it was a gloss spray due to the query how it'd affect painting.
