Hi, I've been a casual 40k player for a few years now and have just demoed Age of Sigmar at my local gaming shop.

I've been reading the Old World lore for the past few weeks and have really grown to love the dwarfs. I just bought my first set of dwarf warriors, but I am not sure how to paint them. In Fantasy, dwarfs were painted in the colors of their respective hold or clan, correct? Now that the Old World is destroyed, do these holds and clans exist?

I understand the fyreslayer thing, but I want my army to be made mostly of the standard dwarf. I'm just curious as to how the average dwarf fits in Age of Sigmar. Worst comes to worst I'll just make my own hold or paint them however

Nobody currently knows, sadly. We only know how Fyreslayers fit into the Age of Sigmar.

Hopefully we'll find out about the rest of the dwarfs soon, because despite Slayers being my favorite part of the race, Fyreslayers just didn't do it at all for me.

At this time there is little known about dwarves beyond the Fyreslayers. You can definitely make up your own scheme and lore and place in the realms, as AoS is a lot about doing that sort of thing. We'll probably know more about the "steamhead" dwarves later this year.

Most of the current lore is from the perspective of the Stormcast who are exploring the realms and the forces that oppose them.

The realms are large and there are probably numerous kingdoms and lands, there just hasn't been enough exploration yet to know what is out there.

Both Orruks and Duardin are mentioned in the new Pestilens Battletome. So hopefully you'll see something on them proper soon.

The truth is that very little is known about them. Like almost nothing at all. They live in the realm of metal (maybe?). You'll just have to wait for their battle tome to come out, whenever that might be.

I'd just paint them however you like.
