Wanting to take a Chaos Knight Paladin as an add-on for My CSM (nurgle) CAD for ITC tournies.. Been out the games for a couple years so any advice on how to best employ it would be greatly appreciated.
Any tricks for melee or just use the Rapid-fire battle cannon to pound units. Thanks

You're chaos, you definitely want to use melee.

Hitting it with invisibility would seem a good way to boost its survivability.

The main trick is to give it the legacy that boosts the Daemon save by 1 if it is Khorne, and then mark it as Khorne. Run alongside Gorepack and stuff for some killer times.

Does that legacy effect the knight too, or just models around it?

Well it says all Khorne Daemons within the radius, and it would fall under that category. I don't see why not, but I don't really play CSM's anymore, so someone else would be better about giving an answer.

It does affect the Knight. The debate is whether the Knight itself can have it. ITC says yes.

I dont see how it is effective to support nearly 400 pts of a single model with 6hp with another 300pts to give it 2++ reroll able and invisibility.

Because that single model can kill everything in the game?

2 str8 ap3 large blast mitigated by stuff in cover.

4 Str D attacks and d3 stomp?

You can take a Typhon siege tank that has a Str10 ap1 large blast that ignores cover. Can take cermite armor to ignore meltas and fusion which are the most common anti tank weaponry. Doesnt need invisibility, doesnt need daemon grimoire.

Your joking right?

Hahahahahha! GOT 'EM!!!! @CrownAxe -

Yeah, I don't see how a Super Heavy Knight with 2++ or just a 3++ is comparable to a tank that can get 1-shotted. Smh.

Can't you get a Warpsmith on a Bike to repair hull points as well? I mean, no one ever mentioned it, just a thought to throw up in this post.

No. Apostles don't get any nice gear either, because reasons.

Thats after you buy a 350pts upgrade called Be'Lakor to cast invisibility and another hq daemon to cast grimoire on it.

OP, if you buy buy Chaos Knight, then you definitely need to buy the daemons. Hopefully thats not a problem for you.

I understand the "tax" you are referring to. However, most successful Daemons armies have those two "taxes" you are referring to. I haven't seen a Daemon army in years that didn't have a Grimoire. And almost 90% of them have had Fatey. (I don't even mention Belakor for guaranteed invis and shrouding) That alone is enough to swing a Knight from better than average (with a free 5++ on all sides) to a 3++ on all sides and 2++ on 1 facing. Throw some Cursed Earths from any of their other friends for flavor. My friend doesn't run Belakor and I have yet to see anyone kill it. Both in RTT play and weekly gaming nights. Granted he's only played 20-25 games with his Khorne Knight. The invulnerable save alone is crazy good. Let alone the 2 pieplates compared to 1 (I know there is a 2 S difference but 8 compared to 10 isn't much different when it comes to shooting at infantry. And you have S in h2h for the tougher targets. Don't forget about the stomps and ignore almost every game mechanic in the game on a 6.

Would you buy the fw one or just get the normal and say it's a chaos knight? You can just throw some spare nurglings/nurglings iconography around it

^ Agree. Here's mine.

Khorne seems to be the strongest of the bunch, those stomp rerolls are real nice against non superheavy targets and help stop it from getting bogged down by chaff.

i play K too, but i prefer earrant with his thermal cannon, shorter range but more effective against hard targets, like for example, termy or riptides or land raiders.
