A friend and I are interested in playing a skirmish style wargame (not warmahordes) if anyone can help me out with suggestions on solid rulesets that would be great.

Stikk bommas are special among ork society for one reason - They know when you pull the pin out of a stikk bomb you throw the bomb not the pin!

Infinity is a sci fi skirmish game with anime roots. Has a really fun mechanic where opponents get to react to you in your turn.

Malifaux is a Victorian era horror steampunk wild west fantasy mashup skirmish game. Uses cards (poker deck) instead of dice.

Whoa. Deja vu.

Ah well, I suppose it's about more than fantasy. But did you have any genre or size of skirmish (gang, warband, platoon etc.) in mind?

Skirmish games that interest me most at the moment:

Dragon Rampant
Open Combat
Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes
Victory Decision: Future Combat
Rogue Planet
Ronin
Gutshot

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Plog - Random sculpts and OW Helves 9/3/23

Song of Blades and Heroes - A very quick and simple skirmishsystem. Easy to start with and cheap as well.

Frostgrave.
Wolsung.
Strange Aeons.

All ones I regularly enjoy in addition to the aforementioned.

1 page Kill Team is ideal for that.

Song of Blades and Heroes has taken over my group and created new miniature gamers in the area.

It's inexpensive, easy to learn, fast and fun to play and it is whatever setting you like or have miniatures for.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."
