Hello, Im a LONG time Tyranid players/lover. But if you are like me and have well over 15k Points of Tyranids just sitting in boxes! and I know you are if you are reading this

Then you are also wishing and hoping at least 1/2 of the next book is playable! GO NIDS!

But if it is not... Im literally taking 3k of my Army and going to fully convert it into a Playable Necrons army!!!!

How Im doing this? Well these are the steps and conversions I will be doing, Im just now starting it (well organizing it for right when the nids bew book comes out, if its crap Im playing Necrons right away).


Corresponding Models:

Carnifex = Canoptek Spyder
Ravener = Canoptek Wraiths
Rippers = Canoptek Scarabs
Tervigon = Ghost Ark
Warriors = Lychguard
Hive Guard = Deathmarks/Immortals
Tyrannofex = Triarch Stalker
Termagant = Warriors
Genestealer = Flayed Ones
Hive Crone = Doom/Night Scythe
Tyragon = Canoptek Tomb Stalker (FW model)

Part 2, Coloring and Conversions

So basically, I would add osme necron bits, a few green stuff and coiled wire and then paint it all silvery colors

Why would I do this? B.c instead of selling off my Tyranids I will gain a new army!

I guess, but you'll have to bulk them out a bit. I for one would have a hard time imagining a gant shrugging off bolted wounds with a 4 up save followed by reanimation. It'd just break the suspension of disbelief for me. The other stuff works.

Right this isn't confusing at all.

I came here expecting a suggestion of redoing the "death holy death mourns" vid but with Tyranids.

Not sure whether to be disappointed or relieved....

Conceptually that was the 4th ed. codex's version of Synapse - hence why they got Eternal Warrior. The idea was that the Hive mind literally forced the broken bodies of those within its thrall to continue to advance and fight, literally until the body could take no more punishment. It's also one of the reasons that people were hoping that the 5th ed. Synapse would have FNP attached - we all knew Eternal Warrior was a bit nuts with how it affected MCs but we also needed something that would make Warriors somewhat more viable as well. Sadly Warriors got an extra wound instead - which combined with the loss of EW made them useless.

Really we wanted T5, 2 wounds, FNP on Synapse.

Conceptually the idea of 'nids fighting on even when they should be dead works. After all, we've got Apoc formations where bodies are literally hurled at a unit til it burns out its ammo. The whole mindless zombie swarm thing should be exactly what lesser beasts function as in Synapse (especially when you consider they have no digestive systems or anything - they are literally designed to kill and if left on their own will die off of starvation).

Why would I have to bulk them out? Nids are already very bulky, necrons are more sleek.. and skeletony

Dont forget, Gants ar the size of "aliens" from the movie aliens, you think 1 bolter shot would always kill one of them? especially with army shells 2" + thick and the midset of "i could be reanimated so I will continue to fight!"

Hows that for fluffy.

Doesnt amtter if its bad. The point wasnt to be awesome conversions or amazing new and cool things.

Its meant to make something Bad into something playable

It could be cool if you go all out. That being said, be ready for some pretty big confusion as people try to remember what is what.
