So I asked last week whether or not people drill out their lasgun barrels and it made me wonder, what all do people drill out in terms of imperium weapons? Am I unusual in my choices?
I usually do bolters, flamers, and meltas. Don't ask me why about the plasma, because I really don't know why I don't drill them out.

I drill out everything. But with bolters, I only drill the muzzle, not the side holes. I like it more that way.

I don't do laser weapons simply because I assume they have a lens of some sort near the tip, just personal preference I guess.

If and when I'll ever actually be able to afford getting into the hobby again, I'll drill out everything possible. It would bug me otherwise because when I see pictures of models without it done, it really sticks out to me and brings it down. It seems such a small thing sure, but like mould lines I guess, it can make all the differnce on the finished piece.

I find 1.2mm-1.5mm for infantry weapons, moving up to 1.8mm ish for heavy bolsters etc. It varies depending on the exact model (for example the old Deathwatch upgrade weapons have quite small and delicate barrels, whereas Ork shootas are quite hefty).

Yeah 1.2 for the barrel, 1.0 for the sides.
I drill out everything I can, it's easy and makes such a difference

I feel like I'm always harping on about this on here but I honestly think that a drill isn't even necessary for drilling out barrels. With a bit of care you can get a really nice and quick result with an X-Acto.
Whatever tool you use, I can't imagine not drilling my barrels these days. As mentioned above, a model just doesn't look finished to me otherwise (one exception: pewter grot blastas.. No, thank you),

I attempt to drill out most gun barrels.
The only ones I don't is plasma guns. The actual aperture the plasma comes out is way to small to be modeled. The bigger plasma weapons Executioner cannon and up have the "barrel" already built in.

Duncan recommends 1.0mm for lasguns, 1.5mm for boltguns and 2.0mm for heavy bolters.
