HI
Probably a noob question here
When drilling holes for the paperclip to support the model piece in the cork do you glue the paperclip in the hole ?
If so , how would I remove the paperclip afterwards ?
TY

Yes, you would glue the paperclip in the hole.
I'm not sure why you would do this at all if you weren't going to pin the model to the base, so not sure why you would need to remove the paperclip.

I was thinking before assembly of the plastic models so I could paint individual parts , pin them stick in cork , paint then remove pins and then assemble ?
I'm also going the way of the acrylic/transparent bases so removal of the pins from the models feet would definitely be needed.
Hope that clarifies a bit more ......
Actually I am a noob lol

Super glue into the hole. Then when assembling you can twist it out with pliers or drill a hole on the other side for the pin.

While on the subject of pinning thought i would thrownthis in, take a pen and cut it the size thats comfortable , glue the drillbit in place and you have a pinvice for next to nothing.

If you aren't pinning the model to the base you can always use poster tac on toothpicks to hold the parts as you paint them. The advantage to doing this is the poster tac will cover the areas you will be gluing together so you won't have to scrape off any paint. Then just peel the poster tac off when you're done.

no actually this is exactly what you do. you paint as much as needed sep, assemble afterwards. the issue can come when a VERY hard part to paint also needs putty work. recently I painted my herald of tzeentch in sep parts but then found I needed to also do putty work at the arm joints. It can be scary and frustrating to work with a model you have already painted as you can incur damage but it seems you care about how your models look or else you wouldnt bother doing this. Gota chalk it up the perils of the trade. do not use a lot of glue. just BARELY enough to where you can simply twist the pin while holding the model. sometimes i dont even drill a hole and glue it to a pre-primed surface like the top of an old GW paint pot and then i can just take an exacto knife and scrape it off
cool idea with the bases being transparent to match the table but I find the models with nicely done bases look amazing even if you make them a jungle theme only to find yourself playing on a city theme board.
side note - city fight boards in 40k are the most common in my exp
