I'm not really creating this to be a 'complaint' thread, but rather... just a few simple things I'd like to see 'change' and how I'd like to see it go. So here goes..

Make more options on the plastic sprues. I would like to see the Space Marines come in one larger box- and the components of this box would be used to create Assault, Tactical, or even Captains, Chaplains, and techmarines. It would be a hell of a lot easier, and allow more freedom of customization for troops. I would even pay a bit extra for more options.

Make Space Marines taller.I understand that the model is iconic, but it's pretty simple- I would like to see them less 'stubby' and a bit taller and bigger. As it stands, they're no bigger than the guardsmen.

Make the IG models slimmer. Pretty simple. Slimmer models could also mean it would be easier to use female bodies that would be compatible with male troops' arms.

Cheaper models ($$$). More FAQ's. Less Spreading units through multiple books and dataslates.

Too much to list here.

While I agree with the IG models thought, I just went and bought 3rd party stuff. Some really good sculptors out there who have done probably exactly what you're looking for.

Better rules. In an ideal world every unit in a codex should be usable in a semi competitive list to decent effect. A unit should only be bad for certain army builds (walker in a speed freaks strategy) or bad because its just slightly worse than something else. Shouldn't have units that cutting the points cost in half would still make it a questionable take (Gorkanaut/Morkanaut).

Honestly, I agree with all of the above (LOL, everyone wishes they were cheaper).

But while a lot of people were upset that Black Templars didn't get their own Codex, I was happy. I'd said since the beginning that you could probably put all the rules for every chapter in one or two very large books. Sure, it might infuriate some folks... but you gotta look at it this way...

Timmy wants to play 40k Space Marines, but he isn't sure which chapter. So he tries basic 'Codex Astartes Compliant', but decides that Black Templars or Space Wolves are cooler. Now all he has to do is just read how they play, get a few new models, and re-paint.

Obligatory plastic Sororitas and GW-made female IG to start off with.

Other than that, I'd go with a rules overhaul where the terminology is clearly-defined and consistently used, and flavor text is clearly separated from the rules. All of it redone in one release so no one's left behind.

Replace physical rules with an online PDF and a decent app for living rules that are simply updated and balanced as needed. New unit? Overpowered unit? Useless unit? No need to wait for an entire new edition to take care of that.

After that, lower prices.

Then focus on putting out a lot of terrain building guides and supplies so that even if people are fine with the forces they do have, there's always a piece of terrain they could build.

Get rid of the currrent system and rebuild the whole thing. I could swallow model prices better if the rules weren't gak.

Have GW actually start hosting tournaments again so we can get rid of this crappy ITC that has overstayed its welcome.

GW has recently put out a tournament event, though details regarding the special army building haven't been out, as far as I've seen.

As much as ITC isn't perfect, I'm going to assume GW's attempts will be even worse.

I made a thread about this recently:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/682970.page#8508308

But above all else, the rules. They are an absolute disaster atm. There is little to no balance. Some codex's vastly outperform others to the point where the game is decided before deployment. Point costs are all over the place. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason why some models cost as much as they do, while others cost almost nothing & are on roids. I truly believe that it would be in GW's best interest to hire an outside gaming company to come in & create a competitive balance ruleset. If all armies were viable & brought their own niche to the table like they are supposed to it would not only bring in more players, but incentivize existing players to try armies that have been underpowered/not competitive for years. There is a reason why 50%+ the players in every FLGS I visit are playing Tau/Necrons/Eldar.

I actually like the whole decurion/formation system, but what I would like to see is it balanced so that everyone gets a fair shake of it.

I also agree with folks saying that there needs to be more balance in the game. It doesn't need to be perfect, but it certainly needs to be better.

As for marines being even bigger, I'm not so sure, I already need to put my 7th edition marines in a bigger foam tray than my 2nd edition ones. They are already pretty beefy now, I get that they aren't as big as they are in the fluff, but I think with the addition of the 32mm bases they at least look bigger on the tabletop now. It's amazing what perspective can do.

Rewrite the rules so that a 1000pt game can be played at a kitchen table and that it will actually be a fun game with enough room to manoeuvre.

And the usual stuff

-Bring out a rebalancing errata that changes point cost etc. the balance in the game is just gone.

-Bring tactics back into the game. I want to be able to spring some traps and outmanoeuvre my opponent.

-Dump the random totally unbalanced objective cards, stop pretending that it is a good balancing factor and create some actual decent missions.

- Lower prices.

- Improve stores.

I dont care about the costs or anything really, I do however hate that there are op models and models not worth taking. They ALL should be useful, so my wish would be they redo the rulebook and codexs to stop the creep and make everything balanced, yet different.

I have. It's preferable to World of Warcraft's community.

There was a thread today on one of the official WoW discussion forums titled, "Religion is stupid" in which people discussed the merits of religion, whether god exists, whether vaccines are suitable for human use, the thread creator profusely admitted to trolling, and about 9 hours after its creation and hundreds of replies, it was finally deleted by a moderator.

Trust me, 40k's community is a shining example of humanity.

I can vouch for this. I used to play WoW. The forums are literally a cesspool full of children and adults who still want to be children.

Mostly it's just General Discussion that gets THAT bonkers. The other forums at least keep their ridiculousness related to the subject the forum's intended for. And then there's the Oceanic General Discussion forum, which looks more calm and sane than Dakka.

And in-game the worst of it is in Trade Chat (a chat channel common to every major city in the game) and people in random Battlegrounds.

Other than a balance pass, I would love to see a reduction in scale for the entire game. I think being able to take so many things is one of the things that hurts the balance of this game. I would also be interested in seeing the horus heresy force org become a standard (mainly the no more than 25% of points in the lords of war spot).

Ha! Try CSMs... Some examples:

- Terminators don't come with any lightning claws, and I think maybe one combi-weapon. Power Lances are an option but no models actually exist.
- Havocs are mono-pose models, that come with one of each weapon. How useful.
- Cultists are mono-pose models and you can't buy the cultist special weapons or champions outside of the Dark Vengeance box.
- Chosen don't exist outside of the stupidly-equipped squad in the Dark Vengeance box.

There are plenty more...

I would change the turns of the game to alternating player phases. 1 move, 2 move > 1 shoot, 2 shoot > 1 assault, 2 assault.

I'll see your WoW community and raise you LoL. I've been around the net. I was there when 4chan was still just a story spoken of in hushed tones at the corners of the web. There were disturbing things. Pictures that shouldn't have been taken in the first place. Opinions of those that have not seen light in their lives, metaphorical or otherwise. I saw SA getting born and I have experienced the angsty artists of DA, but search me and you will find nothing close to the absolute filth of a human cesspool that is the League of Legends community. The kind of unfiltered hatred that game brings out in people transforms them for good, and the community is the weirdest Penrose Stairs situation where every person stands on a pillar high high above everyone else, looking down upon their wretched forms.

I'd change the rules in 40k. While the BRB isn't great, it's a far stretch better than the messy codex-array. They're largely stupid, the internal balance in each codex is poor and the balance among them is laughable.

I love my Skitarii models. Wouldn't change a thing about them, even though they have a hundred options on where to snap pieces off.
