So, I bought two Start Collecting Seraphon boxes plus a box of Skinks over the last few days to build an 8th Edition Lizardmen army. I'm working on finding the square bases for them, but I haven't decided where I'd want to get them fro. Just a matter of how long I want to wait for them to be printed and shipped to me. Movement trays are also easy to find. So, I'm not concerned about that either. But, I'm wondering how to arm my Skinks, Saurus Warriors, and Cold One Riders.

I was also wondering what kind of formation I should put them into. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to read the rules yet. The reason I want to get into 8th Edition and possibly 9th Age is that there are people at my local GW shop that won't play anything other than 8th Edition or 9th Age when it comes to Fantasy. I don't mind playing, AoS, but I would like to play with a few of the other Fantasy players. I play at a GW Shop, and they only have retro nights every once in a while. But, I'm wanting to go ahead and get my bases and movement trays ordered as they can take up to about 8 weeks to get here (bases at least). I'll go ahead and post my army list here in hopes that people can make recommendations about how to set up my Lizardmen (what weapons and formations). Any reorganization, formation, weapon suggestions are very welcome.

Did you read the description under the forum link?

'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents
cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable
defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

Bro, it literally says AOS and legacy WHFB on the forum description. Go for it.

What are you wanting to ask?

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Sadly enough, I didn't. Thank you both for clearing that up for me.

No magic? Brave move

Honestly if you're new to this, just play with this until you get the ropes. Then play on with whatever you feel more comfortable with.

But get some skink priests or a big frog. You will soon feel the need to.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely look into it!

Also check out the 9th age forum for the ruleset which is free. It should become clear how things work after a bit.

I definitely plan to look at The 9th Age. I haven't had a lot of time to look into it yet, but I definitely plan to. Thanks!

Also, jouso, I took your advice.

I'd suggest running the Saurus in one unit of 20 (save the 4 spare for the extra command for games of AoS). 12 isn't going to cut it in WHFB, but 20 is about the minimum you'll want. Blocks of 30 Saurus are a solid unit to build your force around. As for weapons, I had two units of each and they both have their advantages and disadvantages. Hand Weapon and Shield is always useful though and I'd start out with them and maybe get another unit of Spears if you want to. Also keep the Skink Priest nearby so you won't be forced to pursue units due to Predatory Fighter.

The Skinks look fine as you've listed them, the javelins are nice and the shield gives them a 5+ armor save which is handy.

Your characters need some more gear, once you have a read through the rulebook you'll have a better idea of what to give them. I always enjoyed have Loping Stride on my Carnosaur though.

Have your Carnosaur accompany your Cold One Cavalry and you Scar-Veteran join to Saurus (I'd run him with the 20 Saurus in a 7x3 formation) and Skinks run around to harass. Make that Skink Priest a level 2 and either Lore of Heavens or Lore of Beasts work well with Lizardmen.
