Hi,

The rule states, that to form an Emperor's Fist Armoured Company formation, you need 1 Tank Commander, 3 LR squadrons and 1-3 Enginseers. Can the tank commander 's squadron of at least 2 LRs be consdiered as 1 of the 3 squadrons needed? That way you could set up the formation with 4 LRs.

No it can't.

It's not a Leman Russ unit, so it cant be included in the 3 Russes requirement. If they wanted you to include it, they wouldn't have stated "Tank Commander" separately.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Formations tell you which units to take. Those units must obey and fulfill their unit compositions.

You wouldn't expect a marine player to take a demi-company with just 3 individual tactical marines would you?

Or that same demi company to take 2 tac squads putting one of them at 10 marines and claiming that those 10 fulfill the minimum requirements for 2 squads(saving himself 10 points)?

The minimum number of russes is 5, in 4 units.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Ok, I see, thanks for the clarification.

Next one: If I understand this chart correctly, the formation would form a battle forged army together with a CAD. Are the Enginseers from the formation allowed to embark on a Chimera from the CAD and still remain part of the formation?

As far as I understand, the formation must include those, and only those units, which are listed on the formation datasheet, so there is no other way to provide transport for the Enginseers.

You can mix, and if you bring a Transport that is NOT bought as a dedicated transport, any viable unit that is Battle Brothers with the transport can start in one.

For example: You can bring a Stormlord Superheavy Tank via a Combined Arms Detachment and man it with Enginseers from a completely different Detachment/Formation.
Being inside a transport does not change what detachment/formation you belong to.

---

Example:

Space Marine Combined Arms Detachment
1 Librarian
2 Scout Squads
1 Drop Pod (bought as a Fast Attack choice)

PLUS
Space Marine Demi-Battle-Company
1 Captain
3 Tactical Squads
1 Assault Squad with a Rhino
1 Centurion Devastator Squad

-> You can embark the Centurion onto the Drop Pod from the CAD, but you may not embark a Scout Squad onto the Rhino bought as a Dedicated Transport for the Assault Squad. That being said - you couldn't load one of the Tactical Squads into that Rhino for deployment.
The only exception for the Dedicated Transport thingy is that you're allowed to attach ICs to the Squad the transport was purchased for and you may load that combined unit into the transport during deployment, too. So the Captain would be allowed to join the Assault Squad in their Rhino or the Centurions in the CADs Drop Pod

TL;DR: basically as long as you're Battle Brothers, the normal rules for Dedicated Transports and regular Transports apply as if you were of the same Detachment.

Since you have access to the russ formation might I suggest a full cadian battlegroup?

Take a co command as the hq section, the russ formation, and an emperor's wrath artillery co. The hq section has access to a chimera and the artillery co requires one; so you can join the engineseers to those company command squads and ride in thier chimeras or embark on their chimeras turn 1(plus orders on artillery is awesome).

This setup nets you a nice armoured battlegroup with cool benefits.

Thanks for the idea! I was also pondering on setting up a battle group, only with an Emperor’s Shield platoon as auxiliary, instead of Emperor's wrath. I don't have the artillery models for that, for the Shield, I only need to get a few Sentinels.
