Hope I'm not breaking any rules here, if I do just let me know and I will remove this thread.
Does anyone know some good sites/shops who sell 3d printed bits and parts? They don't necessarily have to look exactly like GW or FW parts, but they should be as compatible as possible.
Personally I'm looking for some Dreadnought arms, all I found on Shapeways were autocannons... Tons of autocannons!
So, here's your turn: do you know any good Shapeways user/shop or maybe other sites? I'd really appreciate some help and I'll try to keep the first post updated!

I dont understand GW. they allow dreadnoughts to use a plasma cannon, but do not put one in the dreadnought box, nor do they even sell a plasma cannon arm for a dreadnought in the store.
whos FW, what game system is that for?
I could also use a link for a 3p site so that I can build my dreadnought as it seems wyswyg is how 40k is played outside of a neighborhood table.

Take it from me, buying from Forgeworld would be cheaper and/or better quality + easier to clean, I have a shapeways store, it's the blue link in my signature.

Could easily get a venerable dread plasma arm...

Where on the games workshop webstore is there a plasma cannon for a dreadnought?
Edit: is that something you gotta call in for a special order?

ebay.com has bits for about $6 minus shipping.
And ssial Forge World is a subsidary of games workshop that sells resin models for use in Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar or their Horus Heresy expansion rules set.

Ohhh Ok. So basically FW=Forgeworld=Gamesworkshop2.0? The pieces are very much interchangeable i assume? bits from gw work with bits from fw?
i feel like a newby.. thinking.. I gotta call game workshop and special order a plasma arm. but thats easer the two on forgeworld seem pretty sweet.
Is there is a guide somewhere that tells ya when in timeline the different version of stuff came into play? mark 2, mark 3 mark 4 mark5 etc?

If GW actually did that it would make everyone's lives a lot easier! You do get 3rd party bits sellers though, that break kits down into individual components to sell separately.

Yes, most (if not all) of Forgeworld pieces fit GW models.
When you talk about the different versions are you talking about Dreadnoughts? MkV Forgeworld Dreadnought arms are made to fit (same mounting, same aesthetics) GW's plastic Dreadnoughts (including Venerable, Ironclad and Furioso), while MkIV arms are made to fit Forgeworld's Dreadnoughts (they have their own chapter-specific Venerables and more stuff like the Chaplain Dreadnought). MkIV arms can probably be mounted on GW's Dreadnoughts too, but they would probably look a bit weird.
If what you're talking about is the different versions of the Space Marine power amour, you can have a look on http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Power_Armour.

I saw forgeworld thought it was all for the hh game.
under dark angels there is mark ii iii iv shoulders, and a couple torso that look alot better than the gameworkshop version of torsos..
the da venerable dreadnought is amazing looking.
as far as the plasma cannonm. yes contemper, mark iv and v.
not sure what dreadnought I have its called space marine dreadnought on the bsttle demi company box.
ive made use of those bit sellers already and will be making extensive use in future. its a chapter im mustering, not just a few squads.

Ok, I'll try to sort it out for you (hope we're not getting too off topic here).
Shoulders and torsos you see are for the different versions of power armour. They are compatible with all of GW power armour models but they look better if you match them right. I mean, I made some "wrong" models years ago (like MkVI helmet with MkVII armour and shoulders) and there's nothing in the rules prohibiting that, but now I try to build "regular" power armour (for example, if I put a MkVI helmet I'll use the MkVI studded shoulder pad) because I like them better.
Contemptor Dreadnought is radically different from the others, you find the model on Forgeworld and its rules in the Imperial Armour books (they should be in Volume 2 Second Edition). Its arms probably won't fit other Dreadnoughts and they wouldn't look good.
MkIV is Forgeworld's Dreadnought. Some details are different from the ones made by GW and its arms have a different style (not sure if they fit the others anyway).
MkV is Games Workshop Dreadnought, the one you have. So, you would want a MkV plasma cannon for it.
I hope everything is clear now!

is there any rule or reason that I can't mix the older versions of the gear, shoulders helms, power armor in with the 40 da chapter as legacy items that have stood the test of time?
for example use hh era weapons and vehicles for a few squads or even a trio of dark angel task forces to make up one of the tactical or even the 117 neophants in company ten..
sorry OP for going offtopic, dont seem like is an option besides gw/fw that is of good quality.

No rule forbidding it at all, as long as it's clear what is what. Just notice that some old weapons (e.g. Volkite) don't exist in 40k and that some older vehicles have different rules on Imperial Armour (e.g. Deimos Predator). Anyway, you can use the Deimos model as a counts-as for a regular Predator and I think no one is going to be mad about it.
