Subject: Question on Luna Wolves.

Hey mates. While I still plan to finish my IG Army first, I am already brainstorming ideas for my 2nd army and I am leaning towards Space Marines. In that case, I plan to use the Betrayal at Calth/Forgeworld models so that I can double-dip in both 30k and 40k to make things easier. As for the Legion, current top options are the Imperial Fists and Luna Wolves.
With that being said, while I know what the Imperial Fists bring to the table, I am not really sure what the Luna Wolves (aka Sons of Horus) are all about except that they have a few Specialized Units in the Reaves and Terminators, and that they favor CC. Would appreciate it if anyone can give me some feedback on them and if any of their Specialized Units are worth it. For 30k, what is a great way to field them and for 40k, which Chapter Tactics/Army Special Rules would fit them best? Appreciate the help mates.

They favor getting in close to delivery the killing blow really.
They get +1 extra attack after the last init step if you outnumber your opponent, provided you have already fought (so no free power axe or fist attacks, but power maul and swords and claws are go).
They also get +1 BS if you're shooting someone within 12" with pistols, assault or rapid fire weapons, which is pretty deadly in 30K, esp since if you play them as Sons of Horus they get access to Banestrike rounds (pseudo rending that gives you AP3)
Both of their special units are solid, esp Justaerin terminators for their 2 wounds.

Luna Wolves/SoH are a nicely balanced Legion with a decent focus on CQC. They are my go to Legion and you are going to want Reavers with Jump Packs or an assault transport. Justarians are fun but really need a transport to get into the thick of it and keep moving.
The RoW "The Black Reaving" is all about getting in close and fast. It let's you out flank with your Reavers and that can be amazing.
They do a gun line OK but setting your tactical squads up with extra close combat weapons I find is worth it. It is the move fast and charge army with a nice back up with basic legion shooting units.
Also who does not love that color scheme?

When/where did the Justarian Terminators get two wounds? I'm looking at my Isstvan Crusade books (Book I Betrayal and the Crusade Army List Book) and they are listed as 1 wound. I didn't see anything in the FAQ either.

Hey, Atleast they take the time to update them and actually attempt to keep things balanced. I'll be happy to buy more books when the time arises, because as-so-far FW has done right by us in making them worth it,.

Main reason I am opting for the Luna Wolves atm is that I already play an Mechanized Imperial Guard Regiment for 40k. And while I still play aggressive with it, it is still a shooting army first and foremost and I wanted my 2nd army to be more CC oriented. With that in mind, I am loving the idea of Reavers as they sound like a very good unit, and I do like the idea of them in Jump Packs. However, would they work in lets say a Drop Pod Force? Other then that, and tactics or Army list examples of an aggressive, Luna Wolves Army would be greatly appreciated mates.
And one more thing. Since I would plan on using them in both 30k and 40k as my 2nd Army, what Chapter Tactic/Army Special Rules do you think would fit them best for 40k? Personally, I think BA or one with a emphasis on CC would fit them best overall.

So for 40k I actually run my Luna Wolves as White Scars with the new Scarblade formation. It is fast and good at circling the enemy. That or Carcardons for the rage and tactical squads with CCW.
And yes Reaves in pods work but you would want them in a Dread claw so they can assault out of it. Otherwise they get shot to pieces.
