Subject: Magnetizing-sometimes glue is not required?

I'm in the middle of magnetizing a couple of units of Tau Crisis suits (3 old and 3 new suits), and I've noticed something interesting as I've been working. I drill out the holes with a hand (pin vise) drill since I don't have a Dremel, and sometimes when I go to check the depth of the holes with a magnet, the magnet gets stuck snug enough in the hole that it won't come out. Usually if the hole is not deep enough the magnet will come out, but if the hole is the right depth, the magnet just stays there without even needing to be glued in. Is this likely to be a problem down the road or anything, or am I sometimes getting lucky with being able to skip the glue part?

Ha well it's fine now, but as soon as you add the other magnet it will come off with the other part of the model.
I find glue and green stuff to work best.

You do run the risk of the magnets working loose over time, particularly in GW's super-soft plastic. Better to glue.

I test fitted the two magnetized parts together, and the magnet did not come out of the hole. If it does eventually work its way out I'll go back and glue it in, it should just stick to the other magnet right?

Depending on the diameter of the bits and magnets, you might be fine. The same thing happens to me frequently. If it seems tight enough, and doesn’t pull out when I attach/detach parts, I let it be. I figure I can always put a spot of glue in there if it does work it’s way out.

Yeah this. I have test fitted depth before and lost the magnet in the hole, never for it to return. Fortunately, I test fit with the right polarity (now)

I’ve had a few problems when test fitting into a snug hole that the magnet goes in a little too deep. Can’t get it back out, and it makes for a weak bond when keeping parts together.
