So I was playing a game of 40k EW mission crusade today and me and my friend were wondering about scoring units, which brought up the larger question of what rules differences there are between 40k and 30k.

I will be getting the Legion crusade list and the other red book soon, but I looked through one and couldn't find the BRB rules changes.

I would love if anybody here could help me out with this.

Thanks!

for the most part, it's all up to date (with special rules, mainly) however it plays a lot more like 6th edition when it comes to who can score and what not*

*unless they have implacable advance.

as for the legion crusade list: hold off for another month or two as it should be being updated soon... apparently.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

There are a few notable changes.

Only troops score, dedicated transports do not, there is also a rule called "implacable advance" which grants scoring to certain elite and fast attack units.

Lords or war are 25% max of your army, there are a few exceptions such as the knights questioris list and a rite of war.

Psychic laws are chosen on your list, not prior to the game, all laws are available except deamonology, malefic can be taken by word Bearers only.

Allies are somewhat limited and no reciprocal, for example salamanders are ok having dark angels as bb, but dark angels main force are not bb with sallies (just an example)

There are a lot of missions, a hell of a lot.

That's just off the top of my head.

wait, what's up with the psychic disciplines? Other than malefic being restricted, there isn't anything different to 40k there.

The D weapons rules are not the same. For 30K you have this: S10, Ignores Cover, Sunder, Instant Death and causes D3+1 wounds/hullpoints for every unsaved wound/penetrating hit. Additionally successful invulnerable saves need to be rerolled.

Not exactly, those rules are strictly optional (and in many ways more powerful a majority of the time than normal 7th Ed Str D)

Whilst the mean damage of the 30k D is higher than in 40k, it stops it from insta gibbing high wound/hullpoint models. A roll of a 6 on the D chart for 40k is too brutal.

When you upgrade the centurion to a librarian consol, it tells you to pick a law, meaning it must be on the list at that point, 99% of people just skip it and don't even notice.

I guess I'm one of them. Never noticed that. Although I always have a lore in mind when I picked my psykers. (Thousand Sons iconography means the discipline is modelled on)

The rules are the same as the 40k rulebook with a few noted exceptions. The exceptions, army lists, and Legion options can be found in the following Forge World Books:

HH Crusade Army List <-- This book will be updated in the next month or so. Don't buy it.

Age of Darkness Legions <--- Brand new.

HH Mechanicum <--- Fairly new.

I am gonna be displeased if that is the case. I just ordered CAL last week thinking the update was still a few months out.

Nobody knows how long it will be. Could be a month, could be waiting till late fall for all we know.
