it says, "A model equipped with a boarding shield also counts as being equipped with defensive grenades"..
Does it mean a model equipped with a boarding shield may uses defensive grenade as a shooting weapon?

I don't believe that you can shoot with a defensive grenade. I don't have my books, though.
They prevent your opponent from getting extra attacks when they charge.
However, most models that can take boarding shields already have krak and frag grenades that they can throw.

I belive you are correct. Defensive gernades do not have a shooting attack.

Following 7th rules, defensive grenades can be shot as assault 1 blast(3"), S1 ap-, blind and its range is 8".
And that's why I asked the question.

Boarding shields incorporate a little grenade launcher and sure can shoot if you want.

In the last edition update, they were given a shooting profile.
The same question has come up before with chaos daemons of nurgle, and any time it's been asked, the majority opinion seems to be that nurglings are allowed to fling "grenades" at you. Just don't ask what this attack actually represents.
At best, it's a cloud of flies.....
Similarly, nothing prevents you throwing a defensive grenade instead of a frag. As noted, you could assume the defensive grenades are literal defensive grenades from launchers on the outside of the shield.

You don't get to shoot them as Boarding Shields don't have a weapon stat line, what defensive grenades mean is that if you're charged at, your opponent counts as making a disorganized charge, so they don't get the +1 attack on the charge, or +2 if they have rage.

Boarding shields don't have a weapon statline, but defensive grenades do.

It's just one of the many little 'tweaks' to the rules between 6th and 7th that a lot of people missed or never noticed in the first place.
A similar one was the grenades-through-fire-points-when-assaulting-buildings rule. One player locally loves his AV15 void shielded firebase that's essentially indestructible from range. I think it's Khyr Valen or some similar name - an Iron Warriors character, anyway - who gives you the extra armour value.
On being told that an auxilia squad was going to bung enough krak grenades through the fire point to cause 20D3 S6 hits on the heavy weapons squad safe inside there was a moments shock followed by some extremely rapid flicking through the index.

if I recall correctly, (can I could easily be wrong), but doesn't the boarding shield rules say that the unit counts as having defensive grenades, but doesn't actually HAVE defensive grenades? 'cause if not, it seems like I rules oversight that you can chuck a slab of steel at someone and have them take a blind test

Does seem that way, but if you look closely at the actual boarding shield model, they have a small grenade launcher type thing on them.

are you talking about the rectangle shields or the MK III ones? 'cause I'm 80% sure that on the rectangle shields those are cameras

They can be Grenade launchers, cameras or Flashlights, it doesnt really matter. Boarding Shields only let the model Count As having defensive grenades, it doesnt actually give them to the model.
