Subject: Would Epic be playable & enjoyable when 40k models are used?

40k is kinda messy right now and shifting to models and formations fitted for large scale battles anyway. So would it be doable and fun to play Epic on a 6"x6" board with 40k models and infantry models on movement trays ?

You'd need a larger play area. The scale is approximately 4-5 fold (28mm vs 6mm).
I did see a picture from a recent event (can't remember which one) of a bunch of 40K titans on a floor setup, which made me think of Adeptus Titanicus (totally awesome game). I didn't like that they oversimplified the Titans in Epic (4th ed?).

I don't think it would work or look any good, due to distances and ranges compared to the actual size of the models and the limited space of the table.
But if you had more space you could play Epic rules with 28mm scale figures. The original Epic figures were 6mm scale.

Friends and I played a 3000pt "apocalypse" game (after apoc was first released) using epic rules as well as regular 40k rules (two games, to gauge the differences).
Epic rules worked better than the regular 40k ones. Fewer niggling issues, too.
Played it on an 8x6 table.

Disclaimer: I have never played epic
I figured the size would be an issue.
Difference in model scale: 28/6 = ~4,6
Difference in board size
Epic board size based on the rulebook "approximately 90-120cm square." Lets take 90x90
My board size would be
6" x 6" = ~180 cm x 180 cm.
Thats roughly a factor 2 mismatch with the model sizes.
This would greatly reduce the manoeuvrability options. How bad would this be ?

Sounds cool how did you scale up the movement and blast templates also how fast did it play ?

As someone who plays Epic from time to time, you would have a hard time with scaling. Keep in mind a 25mm base is as large as a Land Raider in Epic. A large part of the game is positioning, so I don't think you'd have enough space. That said, give it a go and let us know how it worked out.. And a normal board for Epic is the same as 40k for the most part, 4'x6'. I find that pretty good for 3000pt armies.

You might be thinking of Adepticon Titanicus. Here is my commentary on this year's events.
The Adeptus Titanicus II ruleset does have expansions for many 40K Super-Heavy Tanks, and I think (but could be wrong) that it's meant to work alongside the EPIC Armageddon rules for infantry. However, I definitely would recommend against using them in the scaled-up version. Getting kicked/stomped is a very real hazard for the models when people are walking around the playing area, and my own Warhound took some damage from an errant dice. Tanks would be at a greater risk as you might not notice them among the buildings as you would a Titan. Massed infantry formations would be even worse.

Adeptus Titanicus II was a standalone spin-off of Epic 40,000* - they decided to separate the games so as to focus on making the best Titan vs Titan (or super-heavy tank) game without having to worry about interaction with infantry.
* which despite some shared terminology shares almost no game mechanics with EPIC: Armageddon.

Playing straight up Epic with 28mm models may be difficult, but one could probably hybridise the Epic and 40k rules to find a happy middle. 40ks rules really don't work that well with the scale of the game as it currently stands; streamlining them like Epic's would make the game faster and smoother, most likely.

28mm Epic has been done quite often at Games Days over the last two decades.
I'd need to look at some numbers, but it's possible the movement rates aren't such an issue; a Space Marine assault unit in Epic can move 15cm, and a March order lets it move three times in a turn (45cm =18"). in 40k, a Space Marine with a jump pack can move 12" in the movement phase, then charge up to 12" again in the assault phase for a total of up to 24".
On the other hand, the Epic 40,000 and Epic Armageddon rules put a lot of emphasis onto command and control, rather than just attacking like in 40k. Warmaster was the same, and the idea behind that has been ported to everything from 6mm to 28 and beyond (in Warmaster Ancients, Black Powder, Hail Caesar and the Blitzkrieg, Cold War and Future War Commander games). You could do the same with Epic, although a few things would probably need to change to accommodate the change in command level.
