Hi all.

So Im pondering about starting a Necron army since I like their miniatures, rules and think they will be a blast to paint.
I am new to 7'th edition so I'm not that well versed in the meta and what is good or not.

The army is a decurion style list that consists of a really strong centre of 20 imortals, 2 unit of warriors in transport to offer mobility and 2 units of tomb blades to offer even more.
I also have 2 units of Death Marks since I really like their rules and miniatures and think they will be good in a list like this to disrupt mi armys weaknesses or kill them outright.
They also will decimate any drop pod based space marine list by killing their deep striking grav devestator squads.

The list.

Overlord: Warschyte, Nightmare Shroud 135.p

10X Warriors 130.p

Ghost Ark 105.p

10X Warriors 130.P

Ghost Arc 105.p

20x Immortals 340.p

5x Tomb Blades: Shield Vanes 100.p

5x Tomb Blades: Shield Vanes 100.p

10x Deathmark 180.p

10x Deathmark 180.p

1505.p

This net me in 5 point over budget, any advice on what to cut would be appreciated. Also tips in general

Not a bad list to start with, but consider getting something for anti air. necrons can just start shooting gauss into the air and bring down flyers, but it is not the most efficient. maybe drop a unit of deathmarks for a doom scythe or change out one of your ghost arks for a night scythe.

I like that idea. I will also get some extra points to spend on the overlord or on vehicles.

I have 15 points to spend. Any ideas on what?

Unfortunately in the Decurion detachment you have to have a minimum of two Doom scythes for the deathbringer flight. Seeing as the majority of the game is filled with fearless models so the nightmare shroud is not really amazing, you should however bring the phase shifter for your overlord. That way he can still survive those Ap 1/2 shots that will inevitably come his way.

You can have your flier be a night scythe for a squad of immortals for anti air plus lots of mobility and use the points to have you overlord with warscythe and phase shifter and use spare points to give your tomb blades nebuloscopes. (makes them great for hunting down scouts)

Second Dragoon's ideas, especially about the nebuloscopes for the tomb blades. Considering you are using them more as a hunting force than just late game objective grabbers, ignoring cover increases their damage output considerably.

Also, giving the immortals a night scythe and dropping them into the backline of the enemy, with that many rapid-firing gauss shots, is a very scary shooting phase for you. Im assuming the warlord is with the immortals, if so, give him a phase shifter and res orb instead of the nightmare shroud (fear doesn't help all that often, and the deep-striking is pretty much nullified by the scythe). That will keep the blob alive for longer, and dont be scared to double-tap and then charge with a blob that big, specially with the warscythe in there.

Just remember a unit that big has a large footprint so make sure to reduce the chance of mishap by dropping them somewhere relatively clear of terrain etc.

Well also note that the immortals can only be in a max squad of ten. So the OP's original list should say "2 squads of ten immortals".

Thanks for the ideas guys.

So new list. Immortals in a Night Schyte and a new, big unit of warriors to hold the centre. I think the Overlord will go into that one.

That's a pretty solid list. You've got a big horde with some good mobility. Real aggressive armies might give you some trouble, use deathmarks as anti drop pod/deepstrike, and try to get your big blobs to hold up big death stars for as long as possible while your bikes take objectives. Things like TWC + Wulfen are gonna be a tough fight and anything eldar wraith will be difficult.

Test it out and tell us how it goes.

3 units of 3 tomb blades will be much better. you need them for scoring. assault armies will table you all day long, btw.

Its tough, but unless you take Canoptek Harvest or Praetorians in some form, you have way too many hard counters. Yes you have a lot of gauss, but your list cant kill a lot of stuff and if it gets assaulted it will lose, run and get swept.

Looks solid to me. I wouldnt drop the tomb blades below 4, otherwise they are an easy unit kill for points.

I am slightly against the big blob of 18. 10 man squads are decently survivable so all you are doing is limiting the amount of stuff you can shoot at.
