Subject: Best ally for Dark Angels?

Perfect Shot Dark Angels Predator Pilot

So right now I have a Dark Angels army waiting to pwn some dudes (jk ).
Of course, with any army, they have a weakness. So I need to find an army that I can put into an ally detachment and use to aid my Dark Angels.
Right now I'm thinking about taking IG or Tau. Fluff doesn't matter at this point.
Any suggestions would be great.

What sort of DA do you play? Green, RW, DW? Do you run many vehicles, do you use any of the formations, etc.?
I personally like IG/DA, it's what I'm working on now, simply because guard bring a lot of cannon fodder while also bringing some powerful anti-air (a weakness of DA) and some other long range support options that are missing from any space marine army, some heavy armor in the form of Pask executioner, etc.
As for tau I almost have no clue how they synergize as I've never even considered the possibility of them working together. Filthy xenos working alongside the best space marine chapter? The only time I ever worked with them was a doubles tournament a while back, they shot some stuff while my RW heavy army just got into melee with everything. It was kind of nice I guess.
So again, depends on what sort of DA you're running.

Space Wolves so you can have an honour duel to decide your primary detachment before the game begins and roleplay some banter between your characters during the game (dark angels charge into an existing combat that some space wolves are suffering with: "bitten of more than you can chew there, little doggy?").
Plus when you lose you can blame one half of your force for not following the plan of the other.

I'm running a Ravenwing focused army (out of 6th ed since I don't have the 7th codex), and I'm not using any formations. CAD and Ally detachments only. DA working with Xeno filth? Well... I guess not.

You gotta get the new codex that's not even an option. New Ravenwing ball out of control - just below top tier.
It's true that you can make a truly vicious death star by combining a Ravenwing Command Squad with some Space Wolf HQ's. But that goes so hard against Dark Angel identity I can't do it. Ditto the filthy aliens; in 2nd Edition Dark Angels weren't even allowed to ally with Xenos.
But you're still an Army of the Imperium of Man, so you still have great ally choices. An Imperial Knight or two is a great pairing with Ravenwing just like most other Imperial armies. If you're not running several Librarians, a Culexus is very helpful, but he does need a transport to really shine. Adeptus Mechanicus can bring shooting to balance the Black Knights' hard-hitting assault - I used a single Allied Detachment of the grav destroyer bots at Adepticon and no Wraithknight would come near me!
But your most competitive ally is probably other Space Marines. There's a lot of popular "superfriends" deathstar lists out there now, and not all of them use Space Wolves. You may have heard of Aaron Aalong's winning Adepticon list. Just replace the Space Wolves with more Ravenwing. http://bloodofkittens.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Aaron-Aleong-1st-Overall-Adepticon-2016.pdf
That's only one example. A Librarian Conclave with Tigurius would also assure you Invisibility and all those brand new Space Marine powers in this month's supplement. The Space Marine codex is full of powerful units and characters, not to mention those in the Forge World books (hint: Lias Issodon).
And a dark horse candidate: Ravenwing Teleport Homers work with Grey Knights too. Any old Grey Knight player would pick them back up if his Nemesis Strike Force didn't scatter anymore!

Ok, that's a lot of options. And yeah, I'm getting the new codex soon. Just ordered it in.
I guess I'll proxy those combos and see what happens. Thanks.
