For sure. Definitely want to set a date for the FAQ's though. "If it's not released officially by ________, it won't be used for the tournament"

I think it would be fine one way or the other, but it's good to know which way we are leaning since there are a lot of changes

Most of it was good and sensible. Some stuff was pretty odd though. Going to be interesting to see what gets adopted and what doesn't. The jink on passengers is big too.

Grenades really just makes you work more to kill vehicles and MC. TBH I thought getting melta bombs as cheap as they were was a bit odd.

Hey guys I put a tournament thread under general discussion . See what you think about some of the ideas.

I think highlander format might be kind of cool.

Hey Luke , what would you think of a tournament with a single source , no formations , fortifications , GMC`s or LOW`s. Each unit can only be used once , exception being troops. No taking multiple of one troop choice until all slots are used up. This might make people take units they might never see.

Say Nids , only 1 Flyrant , 1 Mawloc . This might make me take Tyranid units I wouldn't normally use. I might use say a Tyranid prime , hive guard , gargoyles etc. kind of cool. Also increasing all warp charges by 1 to get off.

Highlander we could work as this (you can google to find forms of it)

A single source (no formations , GMC`s , LOW`s or fortifications).

No duplicates , barring troops and you can not take multiple of the same unit / model. Troops being the exception , after first filling all the troop slots you can take more than 1 of the same troop type.

Everything else reverts to ITC rules.

In other words I.E.

Tyranid list :

Hq. - 1 flyrant (not two)

Also no 2 of the same dedicated transport.

What do you guys think?

Sounds cool, so could you run say 5-6 units of 30 Orks and that would be fine?

Yes as long as you have all of your possible troop options being used for your army, you can go to town. You're still limited by the number of metal boxes that you can put them in since you have a limited number of transports, so unless you plan on footslogging, you may have a tough time putting them all in a metal box.

But I think that the Orks' plan probably was to rip up the battlefield with their own two feet, so I eagerly look forward to seeing them go where they please

Oh you changed the format for the June 12 tourney to the highlander? I thought the highlander is just another tourney.

Yes , did some blogging and texting with long time players. They seemed excited to give it a go. I really like the idea of using units you would never see. Makes the game a lot more tactical I think , I can't run 4 Flyrants now. I'll have to win with other units.

You can't take multiples of any troop choice until you've taken all of the available troop choices. Eldar would need to take guardians, storm guardians, dire avengers and rangers. Then on TOP of that, take bikes to your heart's content. Hardly going to be super effective.

Space marines have it a little easier as they could take only scouts and a squad of tac marines, but once you have their mandatory metal boxes, that's at least 200 points. Hardly awful, but you still have to pay a premium that won't be very effective in a white scars bike army.

And since I'll be bringing Daemons, I gladly welcome the grav spam

For one HQ slot, daemons can still take 3 Heralds?

As far is I know yes. I'm only taking two, but my understanding is that they can't be the same unit (ie heralds of the same god).

Luke`s correct . Seeing Luke`s post about the Eldar really shows how much potential this format can have. No spamming is a tactical challenge . It`s good having people like Luke at the event because they have both great knowledge of the gamer are great players and cangive back good feedback.

Ok I decided, I'm running Orks! Lots and lots of Orks can't wait!

Remember with the format you can take 5 squads of boys after taking 1 squad of grots , with,up to 2 trucks.
