What's how likely is it that a new codex for space marines will come out soon

Minimal. One just came out in summer of 2015.

I don't think they would, and unless they plan to (slightly) nerf them, then I don't think they should. There's really no need. GW are better off buffing and making new releases for other codeces like CSM and Orks.

I'm curious though, what inspired your query? Do you think they need a new one?

A new codex is very unlikely. One was just released recently. They're doing a supplement book sometime soon though if you were wondering about that.

At this point though, it's probably likely that Vanilla Marines will get at least two more codex releases before Chaos gets overhauled.

CSM will become the next DE. They will be forgotten about for another 2or 3 editions before they get another codex.

New to the game and don't want to buy a book that will be replaced in a short amount of time

Sounds like next week they're releasing a sort of compendium Codex, compiling all of the newer formations that have been put out since the Codex, and likely giving some new Psychic powers. You may want to hold off and get that version instead of the base codex.

You'll still need the base 'Codex: Space Marines'.

The Angels of Death book is merely a supplement

More likely we're the next Sisters of Bitter...

the plastic Possessed kit is now 'No Longer Available'. Half our range is still Finecrap and/or hybrid kits, while only the 2012 plastic kits even come with most/all of a unit's basic options... And our rules are the single greatest joke in all of 40k.

My bet is we get a special 'Relic Release' come the 100th anniversary of 40k, at which point we finally get a new model, which will simply be a re-cast of Failbaddon's current model, reminding us all of "the great enemy that never was".

With Angles of Death coming out it is very unlikely SM get a new codex. And we dont need one anyways.

I've seen the new Black Legion and Crimson Slaughter updates. They're not at all good. Fluffy, but bad.

Depends how bad the year end report looks, majority of 40k plays marines so a new codex can lessen the damage by providing a spike in sales.

Yes that is the mistake that GW makes every time ... instead of creating a good game for long time profits they just push crappy OP codices of already op armies to boost the weakening sales. they won't get it.

I bunched my fists in impotent rage then realised this thread was wondering if there was a new one, rather than the rumour mill cranking into action.

Not that I'd mind much come to think of it, I didn't buy the last codex either and am firmly planted in 6th ed C:SM

I'd give it another year before they release a slightly fudged codex with a new cover image. Who knows, I may even get a new codex for my beloved Chaos before then....
