Yeah... they didn't change anything. The artwork got updated on a couple cards, but that was it. No Time Token's on the Photon Torpedoes. If you have played The Doomsday Machine OP or the Balance of Terror OP and seen the Constellation or Intrepid, that's the new paint job on this Enterprise.

A couple thoughts: This was a missed opportunity to introduce some new cards or even a partial reboot into STAW. This was a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario for Wizkids. Newer players would complain about the difficulty of obtaining the older version, and veteran players would complain that they have to buy the same ship they already own for new cards. I'd point out that there are many, many OP ships that newer players will never be able to get a hold of, and veteran players purchase 2-3 of the same ship for a single card all the time (how many IRW Praetus do most players own? I bet two, if not three...).

Someone on the Facebook site pointed out that not having a new ship in this wave means the competitive crowd won't have to plan for a new meta and will be able to "catch up" before the next new ship. It's a fair point, but I never considered STAW that competitive in that way. It's a fun game, but...

It amazes me that Wizkids is willing to make changes to the game (Time Tokens, re-release ships, no more prize ships, just prize cards), but they are unwilling to listen to the players about what kind of changes to make.

Ah well. Doomsday Machine in a couple weeks, and I have a Matt Decker fleet to make! Should be fun...

I have to say I'm happy that it's a simple re-print of the old.

I really didn't like the idea of having to buy old ships again just because of 1 or 2 changed cards.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

I agree with Tamwulf, it is a damn if you do damn if you don't. I can only speculate but i would suspect that the driving force is that they wanted new players to have access to the more popular ships.

If you told a new player they had no chance to get Kirk and his crew unless you go to eBay they would probably just keep walking. So this is the best solution.

Personally I'm good with this. I don't need another Enterprise but I am tempted for a 3rd Cheat Death.

IKS Drovana and IRW Algeron are also supposed to be in this wave so fingers crossed that they have some good stuff in them.

We just had our Doomsday Machine today, I'll try and share that as soon as I get a chance.

My same exact reaction. I'll keep my micromachine copies and pass on this.

The issue I have was the delaying of other, new material. They re-adjusted the entire 2016 release schedule to re-release old ships. And they called it a NEW release.

It was a disservice to the community to go about it this way, imho. But that said, it is a damned either why situation.

I'd almost wish that they had instead released a 2 ship wave, and then issue reprints. FFG has a similar situation: early waves were sold out nearly everwhere and they reprinted them. But aside from telling retailers, they didn't both announcing it. Wizkids genuinely seems to feel like they are doing us a favor sharing their games, versus selling us their product.

2nd that. I was really looking forward to the Klothos and the Devoras and now they are TBA, so who knows when we will see them. I don't understand why these expansions need a new sku just because they have a new paint scheme if the cards are the same. The change in the art on the Enterprise card isn't new, WK did that in the 2nd printing of the ship.

We'll have to see if the other reprints have any changes. I guess to be fair there really isn't anything that needs rewriting in the Enterprise expansion. I can think of a few things in the others that could use some rewrites or updating. So who knows.
