Hello all,

I've been playing this list for a while now and it has been quite successful. Typically the meta is 1750 but there's been a random surge of popularity for 1500 points (I suspect the lower points is bringing in new players). Anyways, after a while the list gets a little boring. Using it over and over is probably the best way to turn yourself off from an army, in my opinion. So I'm trying to make some tweaks to change things up as opposed to doing the same strategy over and over.

It's worth noting that the meta around here is very, very space marine heavy. Wolves, GK, BA, and Vanilla all the time. Might face the odd Eldar, Tau, or even Necron player. So the list is very much based around countering marines.

So here it is:

1500 pts on the nose

Lion's Blade Detachment:

HQ:
Company Master
- Shroud of Heroes
- Mace of Redemption
- Storm Shield
- Plasma Pistol
- Jump Pack
- Artificer Armour
- Digital Weapons

Troops:
Tactical Squad x3
- 10 man
- Sergeant with Melta Bombs and Plasma Pistol
- Plasma Cannon
- Plasma Gun
- Rhino

Fast Attack:
Assault Squad
- 5 man
- Veteran Sergeant with Plasma Pistol and Power Sword
- Plasma Pistol x2

Heavy Support:
Devastators:
- 5 man
- Lascannon x4
- Armorium Cherub

Auxiliary:
Ravenwing Attack Squadron:
Landspeeder
- Multi Melta x2

Ravenwing Bike Squad
- 5 man (6 including attack bike)
- Veteran Sergeant with Power Fist
- Meltagun x2
- Attack Bike with Multimelta

Now even though this list has served me well it is a VERY high costing list. Each tac squad alone is 220 pts and that's kind of brutal. Is this likely the most anti-marine type of list I could do? Is there something obvious I'm missing? (Besides the obvious lack of Anti-Air. They rarely come up in my meta and my lascannons have done an 'alright' job with it)

I actually have pure Ravenwing for 1750 :p

People hate me for it.

Plasma pistols are never worth 15 points.

If you want to mix it up, play a Combined Arms Detachment with unusual stuff like whirlwinds and dreadnaughts and a Land Raider.

Question: are you allowed to take another relic with the Shroud? I thought you could only take one, but if you can take more I may have to look at how I have been running my Company Master...

I usually just toss a relic blade on mine instead. He does pretty amazing for what he is... maybe I just have good luck on my rolls though?

If you really want to mess up Marines, you can swap that plasma for grav. Against assault heavy marines like BA and wolves, having the Salvo 3 firing at full BS is brutal with that AP 2 when they are charging you. Unless they are wulfen... but that's a whole other matter. Not killing yourself by accident with Gets Hot is also a bonus. Biggest bonus though, in my opinion, is that grav immobilizes when it glances vehicles too. One good glance on a zooming flyer and it usually crashes and burns for extra lols

Automatically Appended Next Post:
But the grav is also super great when you immobilizes a charging walker. Helbrutes, dreadnoughts, etc absolutely loathe your full BS grav when they are charging.

I have always prefered taking a Combi-Plasma over a Plasma Pistol. I'd rather receive a charge with 2 Plasma and 2 Boltgun shots than get the charge with only one Plasma shot (And save 15 points from the 3 Tactical Squads alone). Maybe take a Razorback for one of your Tactical Squads if you find yourself often Combat Squadding those units. I also have a lot of love for Grav heavy Ravenwing bikers.

If I'm to give ANY shooting to a DA character I'll go for foesmitter. It's just really good, specially around my meta where people are mostly guard and nids plus scout spam.
