Was pondering upon a very different build for my next run out;

Sigma Squadron Pilot — TIE Phantom 25
Fire-Control System 2
Intelligence Agent 1
Stygium Particle Accelerator 2
Ship Total: 30

Sigma Squadron Pilot — TIE Phantom 25
Fire-Control System 2
Intelligence Agent 1
Stygium Particle Accelerator 2
Ship Total: 30

Rexler Brath — TIE Defender 37
Rage 1
Tractor Beam 1
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II 1
TIE/D 0
Ship Total: 40

Do you reckon it has some viability?

Well, Sigmas kitted out like this are infamously good blockers, so should support an ace okay.

It's Brath I'm more concerned about. I get Rage being good because you get rerolls on his tractor beam shot and his main weapon shot and then a focus token to spend on making them all criticals. And if that's not enough, hopefully one or other of the phantoms has a shot too, throwing another four dice.

If there's a problem, it's managing the stress from Rage. Even with Twin Ion Engines Mk. II modifications, the TIE defender has trouble ditching stress. You can K-turn whilst stressed, so it's not the end of the world, but you'll have at least one turn with no dice modifiers at all.

Bathing in elitist French expats fumes

THe TIE Defender can K-Turn while stressed. It's white.

Eh, Rage on Rexler? Cool idea, but that double stress will hurt.

Thinking its gonna be very situational, but should hit like a truck. Might play like a bit like a regen ship, joust and then run for a couple of turns whilst the sigmas block and generally gum up the works.
I face a lot of two ship builds and think if its flown well then it could be a reasonably hard hitting counter.

you should try this list

Echo
Advanced Cloak
Recon Spec

Sigma Squadron Pilot
Advanced Cloak
Intelligence Agent

Sigma Squadron Pilot
Advanced Cloak
Recon Spec

100 points neat

i tore about a Vader, Inquisitor Fel list last night. from the entire game one of my Sigma pilots lost both shields and a Hull. Decloaking and anticipation on where your enemy will be is the key with this list i found.

One trick that I've seen work fairly well with unique TIE Phantoms is the Decoy elite pilot talent.

Pairing one of them up with Darth Vader works well.

A TIE phantom doesn't really need high pilot skill for the manoeuvre phase; you need to pre-plan it to complement your decloak anyway

Where phantoms live and die by Pilot Skill is the combat phase - the difference between whisper shooting first and shooting second, in addition to the non-trivial possibility of a 4-dice attack blowing your target away, is going from agility 2 to agility 4 with an extra focus token.

You can fit a PS11 Vader, Echo with Decoy and Advanced Cloak, and Palpatine in 100 points.

i assume a shuttle in that list? because Palp can't go on a phantom since he's a two crew slot
