I know that the legions were huge enough that they employed everything under the sun, but each Legion is usually known for using something. Iron Hands with tanks/mechanicum. Salamanders with their flame and melta. Ravenguard with their Jump units and claws.
The Thousand Sons, as we know, are the smallest legion (Next to another I think), so it would be good to use minimal infantry. They had ties with the Mechanicum so they would be a good include either through allies or a Praevian. Librarians are a must imho. Well, here's the list.
You really like making army lists, don't you Kharne?
H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Subject: Re:[3000] Attempt at fluffy Thousand Sons
while they were one of the smaller legions, they also divided themselves up a lot less than other legions (fewer crusade fleets, etc.) so 20-man squads would still be perfectly fine via fluff. As for their mechanicum ties, it was really just a single forge world, and they often used robots as heavy assault troops, so I would swap the vorax for the ubiquitous castellax or thallax units. Beyond their mechanicum buddies, TS tend to shoot at stuff and use psychic powers to augment this, all while being prepped for CC (I mean they did manage to cripple the space wolves and custodes after they hit the line). It would also be important to remember that even pre-prospero, TS had really small vehicle armouries. Their best buddies were White Scars so you could probably do something with them if you REALLY didn't want to play without allies.
As for the list as a whole, I think the model count may be too low for a 3k list. While the castellax will be a pain to remove, Vorax aren't nearly as durrable. It looks pretty fun to play, though I don't see anything that screams TS beyond a single librarian Maybe something like this:
HQ:
Praetor
Librarian (w/ ML 2, here's to hoping that FW gives us access to ML 3 as a legion trait)
Forgelord w/ cortex (or Praevian)
TROOP:
2 15 or 20-man tactical squads
5-man recon team
5-man plasma or volkite support team
ELITE:
Terminators of some form
Apothecaries (TS we're small, so they probably had more than a few of these guys running about checking numbers and watching for flesh change)
some contemptors (varying weaponry)
FAST ATTACK:
some form of bike or plane
HEAVY SUPPORT:
a few Castellax
Artillery ( maybe bombards? Medusas are fun but they don't really fit the 'long range' ideal to me )
I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.
EDIT: Tactics Praetor/Libby (Pyro) go with Termies Apothecaries go into each Tactical Squad 1 Tactical squad and 1 Support squad will go in the Storm Eagle The other Tac and support squads will foot slog Magos sticks with Medusas (Thanatar will hang here as well) Ursarax and Thallax will form a buffer for the Astartes
Now, I could get rid of the Resonator and give the Libby Cataphractii so they can deep strike, would that be better?
