Hi everybody,

I write you to present my new game: 2184 Generation War. You can find it on Amazon and visit our facebook page.

Best regards

2184 Generation War is a skirmish game between 2-4 players on various fields of battle. The objectives are varied and include a campaign which can be separated into several scenarios if you wish. You will choose a clan among the 6 available and will evolve its leaders over 3 generations. When your leader has gained 10 points of experience, his son will succeed him then the son of his son, the third generation will be able to access a new field of competence : PSY powers.

The major asset of 2184 is to provide a fluid game system with ease of access, to share the fun of miniature games with family and friends, and for people outside of the hobby to discover the pleasure of the game. The simplicity of the game is thanks to a unique and ingenious system, this will keep the tactical advantage of this type of game, implementing a storyline and tracking the progress of your clan leader who will become stronger over sessions. In campaign mode, the first player to reach level 10 with his 3rd generation wins the game. There is no obligation to play each scenario in an orderly manner. The life of this game is like an open book with many possibilities.

2184 UNIVERSE
After numerous wars and conflicts in which history has forgotten their names, the planet Earth has become a vast territory where only irradiated animals and humans fighting for their survival live in this devastated world, cities comprise of the last humans unaltered by toxic winds that now sweep the surface. Directed with an iron hand by draconian dictatorships, they are the theater of war between the various institutions in place. These wars give grounds for many skirmishes despite an omnipresent police force overwhelmed by the violence of this closed universe.

Playing surface, measurement and dice
The game is played on a playing area of 60 cm by 60 cm, with decorative elements that players can place at will offering unique games. Measurements of the game, except to describe the size of the playing surface, are always in inches, in fact this measurement system is particularly suitable for miniature games simplifying the "gameplay". The game is played exclusively with 6-sided dice.

Should add a link to amazon for the lazy (me) and also curious why you don't say its on a 2x2ft board? if everything else is in inches why keep the board 60cm by 60cm?

Well, fist of all: congratulation for your project and for the original idea of the generational saga.

Could you give us a suggestion about how the rule system works?...

It's a 2X2ft board it's the same. I'm french and in France we use "cm" , I don't adapt for my english edition and for french players is more logical to present board with "cm"...an error sure ( and the translator do not suggest it...) ! but everything else is in inches.

A amazon link for USA: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=2184+generation+war

Sounds like a fun way to get my son hooked on Wargames. He's very interested in my Infinity models, but I don't even understand that game.

Next Amazon gift card I get is most likely going to this. Sounds like a fun game.

Playing: Droids (Legion), Starks (ASOIAF), BB2
Working on: Starks (ASOIAF), Twilight Kin (KoW). Droids (Legion)

There is evolution. Streamlined but the game is rich: 6 clans, leader evolve, 3 campaigns, 18 scenarios, generation system etc...And lot of free content soon.
I'm happy because firts comments are very good from persons who played. But for the moment 90% french comments...I hope more players everywhere in a moment.

In this day and age I'd love to see a youtube video showing some gameplay highlights. Sometimes games make so much more sense when you see them in the flesh.

Yeah I'm a little wary of the English version.
On the website, review link, youtube link and your posts there are way too many typos and strange sentence structures.
When infinity first came out the english translation was virtually unplayable until the wiki turned up. It was forgivable due to the great models.
Clear and concise rules are essential for a company that is currently supplying just rules.

I think you overestimate indeed. Writing a rulebook is a very specific set of skills, and it's easy to mess up, even for native speakers. Look at GWs rules. They're a mess.

PM me if you want some help. I can't promise miracles, but a fresh set of eyes can be nice, sometimes.

Hi,

Rulebook is ok, It has been already read by others native persons who don't reveal errors. Problem is around my communication...A big mystake. I'm sad because game is good and my communication deserve it...I'll correct that.

Good stuff.
See if you can get your translator to have a look at all of your English language bits outside of the rulebook.
Some stuff is quite glaring and will certainly put off prospective buyers.
Campains was a good one on the website.
The review on your uk Amazon listing is actually very good.
I'd copy and paste that here.

Edit: I'll do it for you....

Verified Purchase
I tend to collect wargame rules out of curiosity, so I thought I'd offer my opinion on this one after a read-through. I have yet to actually play 2184, so consider what follows as semi-informed opinion.

The book is 40 pages of softcover tome. 30 of these pages are the rules, the remaining are ads for miniature producers and illustrations. It has no index, but I don't consider an index essential for a book this size. The artwork is a combo of (nice) drawings and miniature photography. Overall the book is simple and functional; although it's no Gutenberg bible, it does the job nicely.

2184 is a skirmish game for up to 4 players. The goal of the game is to provide players with a fun and simple skirmish campaign system with which to battle for dominance in the ashes of a post-apocalyptic Earth ruled by a tyrannical dictatorship.

Engagements are meant to be short and brutal. The fast-handling rules and a suggested playing field of 2x2 feet would seem to support this.

Chapter breakdown is as follows:

A 1-page intro stating the purpose of the game. The authors point out that ease of access and use are design goals, as well as enticing "people outside of the hobby to discover the pleasure of the game". I find this a worthy goal.

Chapter One: Clans
The various factions are detailed here. They are defined by 4 stats, Attack (AA), Armor (AR), Range (Range), and Power (Power). Stats range from 1 to 5 with AA being the number to hit or exceed, AR a save, Range is in inches, and Power is the number of dice rolled when shooting. There is a slight variance of stats from clan to clan.

Every team consists of a Leader, a Sniper, a heavy machine gun (HMG), and a number of squaddies. The leader has an extra hit point, the sniper has a melee boost and better range (but worse damage!), the HMG can hit 2 targets, and the squaddies make for excellent bullet catchers.

The 6 clans are:
The Angels of Death - Rich spoiled children of privilege
The Army - The armed forces
The Corporation - Corporate security
The Crime Syndicate - Tony Sopranos' distant relatives
The Police - The Fuzz, 5-0, the boys in blue
The Rebels - Plucky and determined non-conformists

Chapter Two: How To Play
The rules are completely contained within these 4 pages. Initiative is IGOUGO with the twist that the leader can also activate 2 team members if they are within 4". The basic movement is 6"; a charge option extendes this to 9". There is an interrupt system called Alert State which works as any number of Overwatch options in other games.

You shoot people by rolling Power number of dice and getting a result of your AA or higher. Melee is the same except you add 1 to your Power. Every hit is a wound; only the leader has 2 wounds. If you get hit, you can attempt to save by rolling your AR or higher. Needless to say, there are various modifiers for cover, distance, etc., but nothing annoyingly complicated.

Chapter Three: Experience And Generations
After each scenario, the leader gains at least 1 eXperience Point (XP) regardless of his survival. Every XP gained will allow him to roll a d6 on one of 5 tables, granting him a slight stat boost or a useful ability. The fifth table is Psionic ability; this one is only available to the 3. and final generation of leaders.

When a leader gains his 10th XP he retires and tags in his replacement. The first 3. gen leader to gain his 10th XP wins the game. In other words: 2184 features an endgame!

Chapter Four: Campaigns And Scenarios
2184 features no less than 3 campaigns of 5 scenarios each. They look like good fun, so I won't spoil them here. The third campaign features psionics via a new NPC clan called the Mutants, and also opens the game for multi-player cooperative play versus the mutant menace (which comes with a basic AI system).

Chapter Five: Equipment To Play
This the last real page of the rules, and it lays out what kit you need to play the game. The standard battle board is 60x60 cm/2x2 feet and the game as written is intended for 28mm gaming. Conversion notes for 15mm figures are included though.

Chapter Six: Sheet Clan
ThIs, the last page, is a photocopyable roster sheet for your forces.

So what do I think of 2184? Well, I doubt that it will satisfy devotees of Tomorrow's War or Advanced Squad Leader in the long term. It *is* very simple, even rudimentary. But 2184 is not meant for hard-core grognards - the authors clearly state that it is meant as an introductory skirmish game, as well as being a fast-moving wargame-lite for when you just want to push some figures around ASAP. In this I believe they have succeeded. And the campaigns do add some depth and story, so there is also that.

2184 seems like a good little game for beginners or boardgamers who want to branch out. More experienced gamers may well enjoy the quick turnaround and the campaigns certainly look fun.

In conclusion: Recommended.

I don't really win money on this project, I do it for pleasure and to share my game and can't pay for each things a translator. Thanx for sharing this review. Persons who buy the game like it. There are a lot of reviews in french for the moment, but I hope more English reviews will arrive soon. The war of Sigmar review is good to. I hope my best advert will be reviews from persons who try the game.

Best regards from France.

The WOS review isn't good.
The english is really bad.
I'd be amazed if English was their first language.
10£ really isn't how an English speaker would write £10.
You're really doing yourself a disservice by not fixing these little bits as the initial impression is that this is a badly translated foreign game.
