Subject: I think I painted an un-primed metal model...

I think I accidentally painted this model while it was un-primed, assuming it WAS primed.
Image of the model
Is it going to be okay like this? I used a wash on it and I have not seen any chipping yet, but I am quite worried about painting un-primed metal models and I really don't want to strip the paint off unless absolutely necessary. Observations and tips are really welcome.

It looks fine to me! I think nowadays we are indoctrinated into doing something just because we are told to. A bit of history;I'm from way way back in regards to figure painting,y'know, the time before primers and even acrylic paints! Back then our only option was to either use enamel of when acrylic mini paint first appeared, thinned down paint! No primer!
Don't worry about no primer this time, you have done a good job.It may rub off on the edges(try to avoid touching it whilst painting) and a good coat of gloss varnish will hold the paint in place.
Above all else;Have fun!

If you're going to just put it in a display case and stare at it, then you're good to go.
However, you're probably going to play with it on a semi-regular basis and the paint will rub off, no two ways about it. Two options, bite the bullet and strip the model or spray it with whatever product you prefer to use when "sealing" a painted model and that may buy you some time before the wear and tear sets in, but make no mistake, the paint will come off if no primer was present.
I say just strip it. It's no big deal and frankly, it's not worth the mental grief.
And that is more Orkmoticons than I think I've ever used, cumulatively.
Good luck!

The only reason I'm worried about stripping it is: It's my first metal painted model.
It did look kind of silver, I can get a before/after picture later (one of one I have unpainted, and the one that's currently painted, and my other silver guys that I thought WERE primed)

Try not to touch the metal. Pick it up by the base.
If you do this two more times, Candyman will come for you.

If you like him, then varnish him and use him. All models that see play will face wear and tear, so it may just be a little sooner that you end up patching this one. Don't stress.

As long as you're careful and pick him up by the base mostly, and varnish, as other's say I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have painted models from when I was a kid that still have their paint on them and I didn't know to even use varnish. Mind you I wouldn't want others seeing them but that's cuz my paint job then lol

Edges rub off even when the mini is primed. It happened to me with all possible primers there are: Tamiya, Chaos Black, Vallejo, Car Spray... So do not worry. The primer is just a layer that helps you to apply your coat more easier, something that makes the paint to stick to the model...
