Is it me, or am I going crazy? I was browsing the store page and I am noticing some things are a bit off. I needed certain 25x25mm square bases that were slotted and I was QUITE positive they were there some months back and now really recent . .They're gone, am I going crazy or they never existed and if they never existed why did these Lizardmen come with slots for them to go into and why do guides say temple guards and warriors take 25x25 square bases?

Also I noticed that in the 'New release' area of the webstore: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Quarrellers Why 'New'? That's more or less speculations!

Age of Sigmar replaced WHFB nearly a year ago. Since then, old stuff gets discontinued or repackaged with round bases. There is no longer a supported system that uses square bases, so they get phased out.

on the forum. Obviously

GW no longer does square bases anymore. AoS gave everyone round bases, as you don't rank up in that game.
So yeah, WHFB was replaced with fantasy 40k.

Somewhere in south-central England.

25mm square slotta-bases are easily available on eBay.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Sure.

That's why they still sell them on that link: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Painting-Modelling?N=102355+4294965926&Nu=product.repositoryId&qty=12&sorting=rec&view=table&categoryId=cat440136a-flat

Ok, what GW gaming system can you use them for? Not that they are worth it anyway.
Like, 5 bucks for 10 25x25 bases? That's like 1/7 the price of a set.

You can use them for Age of Sigmar because base types don't matter in Age of Sigmar. You can mount your models on a piece of cork if you want in Age of Sigmar.

Keeping square bases allows you to also use your models in other systems that require square models.

Well I know that they are, but they were on GW's store page before. Ain't a problem for me to just cut the slots off the lizardmen and put them on normal 25mm bases; but what I needed cleared up was, which I think was; they were removed? And I know that AoS removed square bases for all of that, but I much rather have square bases for my models so I can so much easily line them up into rank and formation and I prefer to play the 8th edition when I can play. I just like the rules better.

Bases aren't a priority for GW game rules, anyway. It's mostly for modelling and the general feelings of people (after all, square bases have a long history in game miniatures).

Best way to answer the OP's question is to ask directly GW customer service. What I can only see on the webstore is that those the OP seek about indeed aren't here, but that they are still selling square and rectangular bases. Since 20 mm slotted square bases are still sold on the webstore, maybe there is another reason behind their disappearance.

Did that and got an answer from them:

Thanks for your email. I'm afraid we don't have any information on any products which are removed from our range. Nor do we know about any possible plans for the range, going forward.

We apologise we can't be more helpful.

Kind regards

So; unless I'm crazy. . .

As I said ain't a big problem I can just cut off the slot bits. And I know enough that it isn't about the bases, but I prefer square due to Rank and Formation for Pre-AoS rules.

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

I'm guessing square bases will disappear as their available inventory is exhausted and/or demand drops to nothing and they're chucked in the rubbish pile for a tax write off.
