Just wondering if this is at all logical with fluff as I am working with a fan made sept
Ok in FSE book it talks about earth cast opening farsight eye that more then just the fire cast can fight
He even has one in his 8 also it was the ethereals that forbids cross cast breeding.

So is it to much to have the idea of a sept with a much closer earth / fire casts.
Even rare cases of cross breeding to make a better battle suit pilot or is this two off the wall for fluff.
I not talking about a pure blending of casts but more of a new cast or a off shoot fire cast

Was thinking that the fire support suits will be piloted by high testing earth cast with the best getting riptides (to bad I can't do it by the rules)
The fire cast will be the fire warriors and crisis suits still trying to think who best fits stealth suits.
Any help from Tau veterans is helpful as I don't have the older tau books as I was a follower of change

It's an interesting idea, but it doesn't sound like something the Ethereals would be cool with. They're all about control, and they keep the septs on a short leash. For the greater good, of course.

But I'm all for a little more actual variety and individualism among the Tau. Maybe it's a sept on the fringes that has been constantly besieged, first by the Imperium and then by the Tyranids in recent years, and has resorted to unconventional tactics to survive? And the Ethereals aren't to keen on what they've been doing, but because the Tau Empire in general is going through a rough time they're warily tolerating it because they have bigger fish to fry? I think that might work.

40k is 111% science.

It's certainly less extreme than the corrupted Tau sept our guys were thinking of. ;-)

These Tau heard faint whispers in their dreams (a daemon artifact they recovered from a space hulk) and while not going Chaos extreme they've slowly started to think that The Greater Good sometimes requires them to do The Greater Evil. They'll burn colonies to the ground in order to spread terror (in their eyes ofc only to lower enemy morale) and kill every opponent who doesn't throw down his weapon, no negotiations. The Commander and his bodyguards have even started adorning their battlesuits with trophies such as skulls and flayed skins to better remind non-Tau of how much worse it could be.

Like fallinq said, It's forbidden by the Aun, but the tau aren't a hive mind. There is more room for diversity. I imagine the rules of the GG being a million different tracks and sayings, so if you look, you can find a loop hole for every rule.

The only thing fluff wise that might be wrong with that is that we don't know if the Tau castes can physically interbreed anymore. It might not be possible. However, that isn't confirmed so I wouldn't let it get in your way.

That's why I went FSE, no ethereals to get in the way

Sounds like it could possibly be a planet in the FSE since they all just do their own thing. I made my own FSE Sept as well but it was fairly traditional because my Commander has only recently defected.
