So I'm curious to see what people would like to see if a live action 40k movie was ever produced. Myself I'd like to see a story around the Imperial guard fighting the Orks. With maybe an intervention from space marines.  A possible sequel could be set up with nids.

While not a 40K movie I encourage you to check out The Mutant Chronicles. It's the closest thing we will probably get to a live action 40k movie.

I honestly think a bad ass sci-fi movie could be made surrounding either Eldar craftworlds or Dark Eldar's city of Commoragh. The problem is good sci-fi movies need huge budgets and are not as profitable unfortunately.

There are already existing series or movies that would be pretty close to these. Like Eldar would be just like the vulcan from star trek. There's a movie called dark city, that I actually own. I'm pretty sure the concept of dark eldar was inspired by this movie.

Out of the imperials a movie surrounding inquisitors would be cool.

More than all of these though I would like to see Necromunda made in to a cyber punk sci-fi movie.

Event Horizon is pretty much a movie about going into the Warp with no Gellar Fields.

There where some Germans, they made a try, but GW mauled them down. Damnatus was the name. It can be found on the web.
And yes, Event Horizon is pretty good.

Another (underrated) movie that always felt 40k-ish to me was Pandorum. Reminds me of what it would be like to be stuck on a Space Hulk with a Genestealer brood.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

I feel that 40k is to big of a setting to capture in 2 to 3 hours. A mini series would probably fit much better.

Oh yeah I agree 100%. I always feel like there is some sort of connection to Event Horizon and Pandorum in my head.

It's too bad that Pandorum doesn't get talked about enough I really enjoyed it.

Well, until the guy comes surfing in on a bit of blown up spaceship which kinda ruins the whole mood it had going.

A movie about Inquisitors would be relatively accessible and achievable on more modest budget (compared to giant battle scenes).

Of course the 40K fan base is minuscule compared to the kind of ticket sales that even a fairly low budget movie needs to succeed.

Gary Oldman is wasted as malcador - any decent old guy could pull that off. You use Gary for roles that are more complex like Erebus.

I agree with several commenters from a similar thread on the Background forum: The Eisenhorn trilogy would be a good entry point. It would introduce the viewers to most aspects of the universe without overwhelming them. Remember that the movie has to be made for non-fans as much as (or perhaps more than) the established fanbase.

Clearly better than Stallone
"YOU BETRAYED THE LAW!"
"LAW!"

(40k version)
'YOU BETRAYED THE EMPEROR!"
"EMPRAH!..."
