If the Dark Angels heard a rumour about a fallen angel who would they send to investigate it, Captain, Librarian, Chaplain?

What retinue would they take with them? A squad of Deathwing knights? A small Ravenwing force? An entire strike force? Something else?

Thanks

In a Ragnar novel they sent a squad of Veterans lead by one Angel with knowledge of the Fallen. I would also imagine it depends on the situation. If they're alone in a forest you'd send Scouts and a Sergeant. If they were in a Chaos Hive City you send the Ravenwing.

Chaplains are not members of the Inner Circle. Only Interrogator-Chaplains know of the Fallen. They're not part of standard Company organization like Chaplains.

Company Masters are the only men who know of the Fallen in most Companies of the Dark Angels.

For the most part I think the Ravenwing is responsible for actual reconnaissance. That and pursuit. Then the Deathwing comes in to nab the bad guy.

Company Masters I guess are the stewards of the rest of the Chapter. They know what's up, but nobody else in the Chapter save the Black Knights, Inner Circle, and Deathwing know any better.

There was a short story in Let the Galaxy Burn (though I don't think those are canon any more since right before it there was a force of BT talking about going back to Earth after the battle) Where an Interrogator Chaplain and a few Tac. Squads assaulted a stronghold full of cultists which turned out to be led by a Fallen Angel.

So if a Ravenwing squad went investigating a Fallen rumour would they be lead by a Huntmaster, a Librarian, an Interrogator Chaplain, a Captain, a squad sergeant or someone else I haven't thought of?

If it's a single squad I would guess it's the Black Knights so a Huntmaster.

One member knew full mission. Rest did not I believe, there as back up to the main agent.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I've theorised that in order for the Dark Angels to actually search for the fallen across the imperium, they must employ normal human agents, literally thousands, do they know they work for the Dark Angels, probably not, but somthing like this must be in place, as there are simply not enough Marines spread across the unforgiven to cover the length and breast of the imperium.

I've always thought they just check reports of battles for things that seem like they could be Fallen while just performing standard duties.

In the Ascension of Balthazaar audio drama, it says that, on becoming deathwing they learn about the existence of the fallen, and part of their role is hunting them. Given that company masters come from there, I imagine any rumours will be shut down, and then passed on to the interrogator chaplains or whoever the appropriate person is.

I've always thought they have their own versions of logic engines that sift through a wide range of data, that is possibly hacked through other systems, they then use servo skulls etc (like probe droids in star wars) to search out possible locations before dedicating extra resources.

How do they get hold of such data, well, they have had members in the likes of the Deathwatch etc before. A secret mission of one of their tech marines (who has no idea what they are actually looking for through this hack). You have to remember it isn't just the Dark Angels chapter also, they have successor chapters that fulfil the same role.
