For some reason, I think I saw a rule that any battles in the Age of Darkness only allow Troops as Scoring Units.

Is that correct, and if so, where in which book says that?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

only troops and squads with the implacable advance rule. as for where it's at, I can't be certain as I'm away from my rules :(

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Book VI has all the divergences from 7th edition under the "Updated rules for the battles in the age of darkness warhammer 40,000 expansion" section. Page 172. I think books V and IV have this too.

Except the first one, as it was released when 6th edition was live and "only troops score" was the default rule.

Doesn't matter when it was released or during what edition...it states pretty clearly what is scoring in AoD games.
